Man I remember being so hyped seeing Ash finally get a Lucario after ppl wanted him to have one for years. And on top of that he could Mega Evolve? It was a dream come true 😭

Lucario was well worth the wait imo. His battles against Volkner and Cynthia were awesome, especially Volkner since this was his first PWC Battle after evolving... And he faced all three of Volkner's Pokémon, knocking out two of them, including his Ace, Luxray, in an epic and memorable draw. Story-wise, as a Riolu, the writing was overall good. No major issues imo. However, once he evolved, he got a little too predictable imo... Just plot armor ability after plot armor ability... While meeting Greninja and training at Oak's Lab were good moments... The story arc for Lucario could have been better imo... I just wish they had more struggles upon evolving, like Ash had with Charizard, Sceptile, and even Greninja... To make him stand out a little more.

You can’t say Lucario has plot armor. Ash has grown into a well seasoned trainer at this point, and supposedly according to the movies descends from humans that can use aura. Lucario winning most of his fights rlly just stems from him being a later addition to the team where Ash is a better trainer, Mega Evolution giving him a huge power up and being trained by Ash’s former Ace Greninja
