My personal strategy when I'm looking for a specialty SE asia dish but don't feel like cooking or know how to season it properly, is to head to an asian market and ask about which restaurants might have it on the menu. They know who's cooking what because in a lot of cases they supply the restaurants :D

It's pronounced LAAB - but often times spelled as Larb, which throws the pronunciation way off :D
@chwinfi3 жыл бұрын
I always think of that word as spelled with a 'bp' at the end. In Thai, it's sort of a combination of both sounds. As always, a great video!

I love Laab. I haven't had it in years. I think I will try this recipe with soy curls. I don't think tofu will be too good in this recipe. It's not chewy enough.
@ThunThunChannel3 жыл бұрын
I just looked up soy curls and you're right! The texture looks much better than regular tofu for this dish. Thanks for sharing!
@vegantattoo72923 жыл бұрын
@@ThunThunChannel Soy curls are my new love. I can make anything with them and have never had a fail yet. If you order them directly through the website (Butler Foods) the price with shipping comes out to the same as free shipping on amazon and they sometimes will add extra free goodies.

My favorite... nothing like coming home to laab after school or work. Now that I’m older I have to make it myself and now I can because your recipes are easy to follow. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks so much for your support! I love laab, it's one of my favorite with sticky rice. Enjoy and don't forget to adjust the flavors to your liking. You know how everyone has their own flavor preference 😊

Another beautiful and delicious recipe! I’ll use a plant based meat to substitute for the pork. Impossible Meat will give me the same texture as that ground pork. Is culantro the same as or close enough to coriander to use as a substitute?
@ThunThunChannel3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jessica. Yes, you can double up on the cilantro in replace of culantro. They are different in many ways but have similar flavor profiles 😊 I'm sure this will taste great with impossible meat

Love this! Is that pandan leaves you used to steam the rice with?
@ThunThunChannel2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I used Lemongrass. A better way would probably allow the lemongrass to boil in the water that will steam the rice.
