The language and tone you're using in this video is so different than almost all of your other videos. I hope the check is real big. I have no issue at all with getting paid for work especially in making KZbin videos which doesn't pay much, but this is egregious.

Like it's actually insane the hoops you jumped through to explain "so what happened". That they had a manufacturer rip them off, then somehow those boots were isolated to be destroyed, and when they were selecting a pair to send to you that they KNEW you'd cut in half, they accidentally selected a reject and sent it to you? Be so for real.

Couple of questions 1 why would you cancel the video if the new boot was like the old one aren’t you supposed to give us the truth and 2 did Thursday recall the crappy boots back or they are just letting the customer take it on the chin

It’s concerning you were going to cancel the video because the initial product sucked and wasn’t what they claim. That’s the info we need to know. @@maryam.m I was astonished when I was in college and my then gf would keep on having shoes fall apart on dates, often first time she wore them out. I experienced similar when I started doing drag as part of some light freshman hazing (don't knock it until you try it, the drag that is)- of course it didn't help that my feet were way too big but heels just fell apart with ease as did lots of the clothes we used. @@maryam.m Men typically just get one or two pairs of shoes/boots and keep wearing them over and over until they fall apart. Thursday was quick to respond to my message regarding the broken zipper and offered to either cover the cost to have a local cobbler fix it or they were willing to exchange my pair and cover all the shipping. I mean, that's certainly what they told you. This channel is about cutting boots in half to see how they're actually made and what they're actually made with, totally bypassing all the marketing BS that brands come up with to describe their products and actually showing it to us. We know from so many of your videos that brands lie through their teeth all the time - why should this be any different? Because they told you this convoluted story about some boots being not up to par and huge numbers being rejected? Seems extremely shady to me, especially since they KNEW they were sending a pair out to a KZbin influencer who pushes a lot of weight around with almost a million subscribers. "I thought for sure we'd have to cancel this video." Why, because the boot they sent you wasn't what they claimed it was?

At this point it feels like if his findings made his sponsor look bad, he just wouldnt make a video about it. Its already an issue that all of his boots are sent for free from the companies he reviews. I dont see how anyone can trust that when they purchase a boot from Thursday, they would get the influencer quality item we see here and not the regular production item they accidentally sent to him. I haven't been able to buy Thursday Boots at this point as I need wide (width E) footwear and they don't have them yet, and sizing up means that it is almost always loose at the heels. Also being overseas means that I have to pay for returns, which can be significant since boots aren't the lightest... @@Tense I didn't have failures, or not in the sense of something falling apart. Despite some five months of regular wear (alternating between another pair or two), my first pair, Presidents, HURT. They pushed in my big toe. They were just a little loose in the heel. Even though I have a narrow instep, they hurt my instep, too. Didn't make any difference what socks I wore, or time of day. There are two kinds of boots: the kind you can't wait to take off your feet, and the kind you don't want to. I couldn't wait to get out of them. They were no fun to walk in, which was what I wanted them for. I tried the Diplomat at a half size up. Same problems. So I finally gave them both to my son. I don't blame Thursday. Thursday has their issues but if you are looking at other $150-200 boots they are definitely on top. This is even the case with the older version that was sent accidentally. I’d take Thursday any day over timberland or docs in terms of quality. There are a few very small brands (like Blkbrd) that I would consider to be superior though. I find it hard to justify Thursdays when you have Red Wing for not too much more. Let’s also not forget Grant Stone B Grades for $180-250 that are a fantastic bargain. Grant stone boots are leagues above Thursday. Thursdays leather just doesn’t feel as premium as the other brands I mentioned. I have Terracotta captains and MitUSA Waxed Cacao loggers that I’m basing this off of. They also have issues with their rubber soles deteriorating quickly. That leads to the philosophical question of whether it’s worth spending $120-$150 for a resole on a pair of $200 boots that you’ve had for a year. Lastly, here’s my obligatory opinion that you should stop doing sponsored videos about products that said sponsors make. You might try to make it sound unbiased, but when they’re providing points for you to talk about and sending you a specific pair to review (versus if you’d ordered anonymously), this video can be described as sketchy at best. The vast majority of us will receive imperfect boots or boots with cut corners because we aren’t influencers who are reviewing the product. Cheers. It was the same with a video you did recently of Grant Stone (?) that was sponsored by GS. I love the boots and agreed with most of your points, but even then it felt so scripted and it seemed like you had some kind of obligation to give them a gleaming review.

In 1 year I got 3 different pairs. The Stompers, Presidents, and Hightop sneakers. Although I love them each of them did some with small different problems. The Stompers have a smooth heel counter so quite a bit of heel slip. The President had the tongue slide way off to the side and I had to get slits made to hold them in place. The Hightop also had the tongue slide all the way to the side even though it already had lace loops to hold them in place. On Reddit, quality control also seems to be an issue as many customers report other similar slight issues such as a toecap being titled, the color of one being different from the other, and general oddities. No deal breakers but still something to think about. Especially for anyone who's ordering from outside the US because although they do free returns you will have to pay to ship them back to the company and depending on where you live you might be paying as much as 25% of your purchase on the exchange alone.

Hey. So I'm a casual fan of this channel and I have a question for the boot nerds out there who will most likely know more then me. Is there a boot that is made with specifically mechanic work in mind? I've used a lot of different styles of work boots from Ariat and Georgia boots, up to my current pair which is a set of White's. I've had several I liked more then the others and some I hated, but I have yet to find a set that seems to be able to take the unique abuse that mechanic work involves. So what I'm looking for is a boot that can take the basic abuse of daily work wear, but more so the destruction of constant oil and chemical soaking. I've noticed that, for me, my laces degrade really fast and usually my stitching is the first vital part to give, long before the leather itself really shows any signs of coming apart. Something else that I would love to find in a boot is a sole that has a lot more traction on an oily concrete floor. I know that's kind of a unrealistic dream, but the traditional rubber or hard foam soles I've used have never served me well as far as that goes. So does anyone have any thoughts or ideas on a boot I should try or one built specifically for mechanics?

Id really like to know about the vanguard. Especially in the brown waxed flesh. Are those any better being made in America? I love their look just been a little hesitant with some issues I've heard and seen. I was looking on poshmark and theirs a pair of captains that one is lighter that the other. Ive even seen some pictures with the same boot having mismatch panels. So I was kinda hesitant about captain(note: I have no idea when these were made). Plus i like the vanguard better

I wish they made a boot with a slightly bulkier profile. Say 15% more material. I know they design their boots to use the least leather, thereby saving us money. But they can make a premium line now and charge a bit more.

Thursday should make a traditional line that is leather everywhere they can, rubber only where needed, natural materials throughout (the laces can stay kevlar blended), shit ton of nails, careful attention to detail, and while staying hand made. I'd easily pay an extra $100 for that. Because if I bought Thursdays current boots, I'd probably send them to a cobbler sooner than needed so they can throw in that 15oz veg tan leather insole and replace the lasting board with leather. I want to only be standing on leather, cork, and glue, with a rubber outsole.

I have a pair of dr martens combs I got on sale and even though they're comfortable they slip on the smooth concrete floor of my workplace. How grippy are thursday boots? Thats all I'm really looking for in a boot. Not necessarily toughness or steel toe caps or anything like that, just being able to stick to the floor while I move heavy stuff.

I have never owned a pair and probably never will. Two different people at work tried them out. The first coworker’s soles separated in less than 6 weeks, totally unacceptable, they did send him a replacement pair that seems to be holding up well. The second coworker ordered a pair of boots and a belt. The boots had a speed lace rivet pop out in the first week. The belt appears to have been two pieces of leather and they split down the middle within the first month as well. Based on these examples I’ll stick to my Iron Rangers and 1000 mile’s, they may cost a bit more, but at least they will hold up…. Thursday’s seem to be a crap shoot, some are decent, others are just junk like they are coming from two drastically different factories…. It also begs the question: what did Thursday’s management team expect when they went to Mexico for production and found cut rate factories willing to manufacture “250,000 worth of boots for a 40,000 deposit”? It’s not like overhead gets magically paid and labor works for free, the factory cut corners and skimped on production costs where they thought no one would notice. Another point here is that the whole point of QC is to prevent “escapes” in the production process, not allowing substandard products to even see the light of day, let alone into a reviewer’s hands. I’d say their QC department is focused on reactive approaches after the substandard products have made it to the customer rather than proactively policing. For the record I’ve been in statistical process control and QC for 10 years, this would have gotten me fired…..

I've been wearing Thursdays since 2018. I have an original first-run pair of their black Aviator wingtip dress shoes, which have held up better than any other dress shoe I've bought in the last ten years. I bought Captains in Brandy in 2019 and never looked back. I wore those boots so hard that I had to buy another pair, which I wore hard enough to tear the upper. Now on pair #3, and so far these have held up much better, albeit with less hard wear as a result of the next two purchases: StormKing Captains and Maverick western boots.. I bought the StormKing Captains in 2020 that have worn well externally despite some really tough conditions (totally soaked them in the rain several times, worked in them, etc). The Maverick western boots are my most recent purchase, and they're my favorite boots now.

Can you please analyze the Frye Engineer boots? They used to be such great quality. They discontinued the ones (8R and 12R) for women but still sell the men's Engineer 12R boots. They look like they started using cheaper leather. If you look at the previous version of the Gaucho oiled leather versus what they are selling now, it is a whole different look! And they still charge $500. Please cut one open and show how yet another brand sold out and started cutting corners. Many thanks! I am so grateful I have my old pair.

Took a few attempts to get ones that fit but they sent replacements to me before they received my returns (UPS ain't That fast) and my only beef is I'm not used to any sort of heel, so maybe I should go for the sneakers. The only thing they have going for them on those lesser quality hold-overs from the temp factory is they looked to still be an okay boot for $200, just not the really good boot for $200. I don't need any new ones just yet, but will keep them in mind. I've a pair of Captains, Cavaliers, and dress shoes from them. I wear the Cavs most, because I'm lazy and don't like taking time tying shoes or boots.

I own 9 pairs of Thursday boots over the last 5 years. While their boots used to be great for a stylish-enough look without the need to treat them like a newborn baby, their QA is godawful and has only gotten worse as the company has expanded. Their customer service is incredibly unprofessional, passive-aggressive, and rude. And, worst of all, if you get a factory defect and ask for an exchange (you know, because you paid for a brand new boot, not a factory defect with permanent paint marks, peeling leather, scuffs, incorrect lasts, literally being unfinished, and more), they send factory defects in exchange! They told me themselves. What company does that!? Nowadays, getting a boot without major cosmetic and/or functional defects is like spinning a wheel. I hope they get their QA under control because I used to give Thursday such high praise and was quick to recommend them, but now I recommend alternative brands because I can't ethically recommend someone a brand that sends as many defective products as they do non-defects. Also, the insoles on half my boots have fallen apart. It's a mess. They don't have the same quality they did years ago. As someone who actually buys my own boots and doesn't get them sent for free, I don't recommend Thursday Boots. Actually, this isn't an issue of QA. This is just how Thursday does business. Shady, slimey, and untrustworthy.

I have shoes and boots that are over $1K but there is still room in my collection for Thursday Boots. These are not work boots and they're not trying to be. They're like the anti-Red Wing since their overall design aesthetic is to be sleek and not have the bulbous toe. They're style focused so you need to go in with that mindset, otherwise look elsewhere. If you want a large rotation with a wide variety of styles, leathers, and colors that won't break the bank, Thursday is a really great option. I have EE wide feet but going up a half size works well for me in the styles where they only have one width. You just have to figure out your size.
