This is really lovely! I sometimes forget how much one can achieve with coloured pencils if one is patient enough!
8 жыл бұрын
Thank you! You are so right about being patient. I hated colored pencils before. I felt that I couldn't get the result I wanted, pencils led was constantly breaking and everything was just awful. I didn't know what could even be done with cp, untill I found artis called Lachri, here from youtube. (If you haven't seen her work, I recommend you go and check her out) And after I saw what she could accomplish with cp, I just had to try seriously and patiently to do something with cp. I reallized that before I had always rushed too much, tried to get the piece finished on one sitting and that were my problem. So I slowed down and just enjoyed the time with my pencils. My first piece took me over 100 hours to complete but after that it has been easier to me to slow down and be more patient.

FineArtAnne oh my gosh! 1000 hrs? At least now I know that I'm not the only slow ' detailed' colored pencil artist. I'm still working on your Hummingbirds and Pixie's drawing. 15 hrs on one Hummingbird so far. Haha. . I had to stop for because of my bad vision. Too much eye strain makes them go crazy. I need to go to the Eye Dr and get proper glasses. I can no longer put it off if I want to draw. =D

Thank you! What do you mean by what colors? The brands that I used here were Faber-Castell polychromos , Caran d'Ache Luminance and Caran d'Ache Pablo. And from those sets, I used almost all blue and green to tones and some of the magenta/ pink colors.

Thank you for your lovely words and interest. Unfortunately I barely have time to do these Time-lapse videos. My artworks are usually so big and time consuming to do, that I don't have time plan out tutorials. Also my spoken english is not that good and I actually am not that good of a teacher. I usually go with the flow when I'm drawing. There are really good tutorial videos in other channels that cover basically all that I could come up with. One I personally like is Lachri Fine Art -channel. You should check that out if you are not familiar with Lachri already. I am planning to do some slower versions from some future artwork. At least from some portions of them. Like from bubbles and such. I need to invest in better video equipment first..

7 жыл бұрын
danielle fink yes well I do it kind of both ways. Sometimes background first and then the subject and sometimes other way around like in here. With colored pencils it is easy to just go around the subject and do the background last unlike when doing paintings. Also I didn't have accurate reference photo to follow when I did this so it was easier to first do those birds and flowers and then do the background. And those bubbles came in my mind just in the end of this piece 😄

One of the best drawings I have ever seen! So much beauty and perfection! :) What paper did you use?
8 жыл бұрын
Than you so much! The paper I used for this was Fabriano HP watercolor paper. Not the Artistico brand from Fabriano that so many use. I haven't used that Artistico paper yet, so I can't say what the difference is between these two paper. Except price and that the Artistico is 100% cotton and the one I use is only 25% cotton.

if you want to learn to draw, the most important thing is just simply draw, draw and draw some more. And remember to let your self do mistakes also 😄 always remember that every obstacle you face, all other artist have also struggled with that same thing. you are not alone. I also have a playlist called colorin together Hummingbirds and Pixies where I provide a coloring picture for that and you can color along. I have few real time videos where I color that and also I try to explain what I am doing and why. In the video description on those videos, you find all the art supplies I use in that and also link to that coloring picture and also link to instructions on my website where I show how you can easily trace that line drawing on better paper

Thank you so much! It is difficult to estimate. I believe it took me about 30 - 40 hours to complete. Plus sketching. Even though this was quite a big in size it was surprisingly quick to draw. Maybe because I didn't have accurate reference photo to follow exactly, but instead I was able to work mostly from my mind. What was your inspiration for drawing and colouring three hummingbirds with the flowers? And what does it symbolize for you?
7 жыл бұрын
Well, firstly I love birds and especially hummingbirds. They are like magical creatures to me, because we don't have those here in Finland and every time I see videos or pictures of hummingbirds, I get so happy. Little fairy like birds flying from flower to flower. So this was a kind of my happy dreamy picture of my personal dreamy fairyland full of hummingbirds and flowers. Also I love turquoise color combined with pink/magenta color so that's where those colors came from.

Absolutely gorgeous..I don't know how you don't have more followers. I'm curious what are you using to make the bubbles? Is that an electric eraser?
8 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I add videos so rarely I believe that is the reason why I don't have much following. To me it doesn't matter so much since I don't do tis commercially. Not yet atleast. Yes, I erased with electric eraser those bubbles and used Caran d'ache Luminance white for the highlights. That paper is really smooth and colors erased surprisingly well even though I already had used solvents to blend the colored pencils. The idea for those bubbles came out to me after I already had colored the background.

Did you have a reference photo for the hummingbirds or did you draw them free hand?
8 жыл бұрын
I free handed everything in this and I didn't have any accurate specific reference photo to follow, instead I studied anatomy of different hummingbirds and tried to do as much as I could just by intuition and imagination. I did look up some elements here and there from different hummingbird photos, but only to check out some anatomical details.
@carolinebaker97048 жыл бұрын
That's awesome I especially loved the colours in them. Im doing a hummingbird at the moment and im using a reference photo but exchanging some of the colours so theres more green and blue and a little pink, but those little feathers are quite difficult to paint :) You and lachri fine art inspired me to try a hummingbird.

We don't have those here, so they are like some kind of tiny super cute fantasy creatures to me :D I'm so happy my work got you inspired! :D I'm actually planning to do some hummingbird drawing soon after I finish these drawings that I'm working right now. It will either be something totally new, or I will start coloring my Inktober picture in small portions. There arethree hummingbirds in that picture :D All from PMP-art.com reference photos. :)
