The first thing I'd like to know is what I am buying. Can you tell me what the CX (I or II) stands for in the first place? It's great to know the CX II is better, but what is CX in the first place? No one in Dallas seemed to know.

The original TI-Nspire model had a grey scale screen. (Black and white) The CX series introduced colour (C). With regards to series I and II , the II series includes additional features, particularly when it comes to programming. The II series includes a 'drawing' canvas and Python coding, in addition to lots of other features not available in the original series. The can now communicate with your CX II series using our web-browser interface for updating the OS, transferring files and taking screen shots. All up, the CX II series is well worth the spend.

1) Can the student software do everything the ti nspire cx ii cas calculator can do? 2) And is there a difference between the student software between ti nspire cx cas and ti nspire cx ii cas. Thanks

1) Yes, and more. For example you can insert pictures into the background of Graphs, Notes or Geometry applications using the software. You will also find it easy to type text (notes) using the computer where you have access to a QWERTY keyboard. Grabbing and dragging is always easier with a full size screen and mouse. Definitely worth it! CX II vs CX - There are many differences. Python for example only exists on CX II, so too drawing commands ... and options to communicate with things like MicroBit and more.
