Your channel is my disc golf bible. My practice is now a cycle of watching, practicing form without discs, trying it out (and often still failing) on the course, filming myself from time to time and then rewatching certain videos. I notice a steady amd gradual improvement and I thank you for it!

I love how you're using your musical training, experience, and ear to observe and interpret this explosive athletic movement. Your approach speaks powerfully to both my engineering and artistic minds. Insightful and elegant. Thank you!

Now that I’m starting to figure this aspect, out, I’m able to start learning my discs. I got tired of injuring my elbow, bicep, and shoulder, so I learned to focus on the pocket and the release. I’ve been playing on and off for 30 years, but just now, am I learning proper form, the mindset, and how to work smarter and not harder.

One thing that helped me and may help others. I envisioned the reach back as playing a fighting video game. You press “A” to charge your attack. The reachback is your holding “A”. Once your front leg is in position to brace you are releasing “A” to do your special move/charged attack. That help me with my rhythm. Envision the loading bar.

Best way I've ever heard it described..All other movements mean nothing unless you are in tune with that point in time and space with your own body. It's slightly different for just about everybody..That's why you can't really teach distance until AFTER you find your own timing spot. You'll just wake up one day after throwing a bunch and can suddenly rip a disc 500. You're not gonna go from 150 to 500..But you will notice big jumps in distance the closer you get...The best way is to get 40 discs and just go focus on finding that timing point where you get more distance with less effort.

Lately, I've been focusing on exploding at the very last moment. I thought about it.. Simon Lizotte played a wet disc round with Casey White, and had no problem with grip. I figured this must be due to his form. So lately, I've been playing rounds in the rain, and early morning without a towel. From what I noticed, you absolutely must have perfect timing, if you throw a wet disc.

Hyviä videoita teet, kiitos siitä!! Olisiko mahdollista kehitellä jonkinlaista sarjaa, jossa opetellaan alusta asti heittämään tai uudistamaan tekniikka. Mukana voisi olla joku aloittelija. Veikkaisin, että tällaiselle olisi paljon kysyntää :)

I'm new to disc golf, and probably a bit confused.. so many tutorials with different things to focus on. I must say that this short, and seemingly simple instruction, really makes more sense to me than most if not everything else I've watched of late. Disc golf made into dance steps, what's not to like 😁 I'll give it a try. If it works I'll subscribe 😉

The perfect X step, the perfect grip and shoulder turn do NOT mean a thing if you don't have your rhythm down. Like you said, gotta have like this musical rhythm. For me I usually start for my RHBH -> left foot first, then boom boom and BOOM. After awhile you don't even think of it. That's the point - after awhile the rhythm comes naturally. Took me over 3 months to get mine down.

Very good video. Noone has figured out what exactly happens yet. And even if you do, it's not possible to consciously control your body to complete the movement. I also strongly believe this more hollistic approach to teaching definitely gets people further (pun i guess), than any forced concepts of "power pockets" or what have you, that are not even accurate to begin with. This sort of rhythm is something simple to keep in mind and it has to be there. It doesnt put restriction on the movement the way incorrect advice can. It's better to say less and let someone explore the solution space than constrain them preventing them from ever finding it.
@dgspindoctor Жыл бұрын
Exactly! I try to give the outlines for the throw and let everybody find their own comfortable way to throw applying those few cues. Even if we all go for the same moves, it's no wonder every one of us is quite easily recognized of our own unique style.

So I’ve been focusing on the hit , but maybe I’ve imagined the wrong thing but it’s been helping me. I describe it like you have a tall tee (or Tee-ball tee ) at a fixed place that you are swinging your forearm at (like a bat). So at that point your arm is in full extension and the disc will be ejected

No, that is EXACTLY the hit, the greatest hit.

The speed of the upper arm from elbow to shoulder if you clock the speed it would be the actual launch speed. The lower arm just trails behind it. Start there.
@dgspindoctor Жыл бұрын
Partially true, but this kind of thinking can lead to muscling the shoulder, when you want to be pretty loose. The wrist should be the fastest part until the disc pivots out of your fingers making it even faster.
