Or that both sides don’t say hey life’s getting a little expensive. Let’s give ourselves raises. With our money no less. The same money if we try and keep a little more of, we can go to jail for keeping. I see a lot of private jets and limos and huge homes on both sides. So don’t act like liberals or Republicans for the most part don’t take care of number one first at our expense whatever that is. Also yeah that will never stop unless something drastic changes.

What is crazy to me, is how much politicians spend to acquire a job that pays $174K a year. Down here in GA, Kelly Loeffler threw in $23 million of her OWN money to try to stay in the senate. The 4 candidates running for the 2 senate seats and the pacs supporting them spent more than $937 million on the campaigns and runoffs. I can't stop thinking about what better uses there would be for that money to do good. I also can't stop thinking about what perks or power come with a $174K job that you would raise and spend so much money to get it. There must be some serious crap going on that we don't know about. And THAT, is what ticks me off!!

Even the term limits wont do much. There should be a "No Confidence" bill introduced for the constituents in the Congress and should be passed. You may ask, what do you mean by "No Confidence"? Well, if someone stops representing the People and starts representing the Corporations by accepting donations from them, ppl should be allowed to cast their "No Confidence" vote to remove that person from the office immediately. 2 years is enough for corrupt ppl to make money by going to Congress.

It’s even worse if you look at population and representation. There is a 50/50 split in the senate except the 50 Democratic senators represent 41 million more people than the 50 Republican senators. Both the senate and electoral college have entrenched an ever smaller minority party with control over an ever growing majority.

They need the term limits but (IMO) they also must make it mandatory for ALL polititions running for any office: 1) provide 5 years of tax returns; 2) in-depth background investigation; 3) in-depth psychological exam; 4) remove ALL big $ donors. Only the voters in their city, county, state can contribute to their campaign. If they aren't beholden to big $ they must do the work for US. With term limits, if they don't work for us we vote them out.

Term limits for Congresscritters and supreme court judges AND revoke citizens united. Get rid of massive campaign donations by corporations, period. Make the most any individual can donate one thousand dollars, period. No donations from businesses of any kind. Oh and while I'm at it, make lobbying illegal.

One more thing I would add to this is that people in congress and government vote for the things that are good only when they know it's not going anywhere, so it's not just a Mitch problem, it's a system problem. People also need to understand that most of the time individual politicians vote on hypothetical bills, bills that they would then need to vote on again a second or even a third time. A perfect example of this is what happened with democratic politicians such as Kamala Harris in 2016 and 2020. Remember how she and Elizabeth Warren where all in for M4A? And then all of the sudden they weren't? That's because politicians know when a certain bill will be passed and when it will not. Kamala and Harris voted for M4A back when Bernie had just introduced the idea, but when they realized it might actually pass if they do it again, they and all the other dems said "Hell No". Politicians, much like Wallstreet, can bend the system whenever they want to benefit them and that's the main problem.

Nobody in the government represents the people anymore. They only do what's in their political interests. There are a lot of things I want to see change on this country, but noooo it all has to be debated for like 6 years and there's a whole long complicated political process involved in order for it to happen. One example is rent for apartments. In my opinion, *nobody* should have to pay more than $400/month for any apartment. I don't know how, but if they could somehow make that a national law/reality (which they won't), I'll be happy.

What if serving in congress was like jury duty, every year there was a random lottery to see who would serve in congress for 1 year. If selected you got paid a 250k congressional salary but you could't take any donations you could only serve once and the president would still be elected. IF you're approval rating was super low you're salary got cut in half. I used to think you needed to be smarter than the averadge person to serve in congress but congress does alot of really stupid things.
