Thank you for the video, and thank you in advance for answering my questions. Here are my questions. 1) If on my turn, I first select a card off the top of the deck, can I pick a locomotive from the five face up cards as my second card. Yes or No (One of the reasons I am asking is because in your video when you picked from the deck and got the locomotive, you are allowed to pick a second card either from the deck or from the face up cards. When you illustrated this, you swept your finger across all five face up cards including the locomotive.) 2) If I pick up my first card from the 5 face up cards and the replacement card is a locomotive, can I pick it up as my second card. Yes or No 3) can you help me understand the last statement regarding the tie breaker when you talk about the longest route? If the two tied players had the longest route card seems like it will be a tie.
@WatchItPlayed5 жыл бұрын
1) Nope, you wouldn't be able to in that case. If you take a regular card, you cannot take a locomotive card as your second. This is detailed here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/anvLd5uvq6yXn80 2) See above. 3) Player 1 & 2 might have 100 points, but player 3, who only had 80 points, might have actually had the longest route, and therefore claimed the card - so when tie breaking between player 1 & 2, even though neither of them has the longest route for the game, between them, you check to see who had the longest single route for the purposes of breaking the tie. Hope that helps!

I very much enjoyed your presentation (best one I've watched).... but still have a couple of questions that I've been given contradicting answers to. Question 1: If your destination card is Houston to Portland (for example), can you "claim" ANY section within that route with first move? An example would be: Yellow section between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Or do you have to start from either the Destination Station or the Departure Station? Question 2: (If answer to Question 1 is that you must start from either the Destination or Departure Stations) If you do begin with Portland, (playing the 5 green cars) do you have to continue adding to your train from that direction only... or can you claim a route further down, skipping a section for the moment? Or even claiming the section from the opposite end of your route, El Paso to Houston? In these cases, you would then go back at another turn and place cars on sections that are in between routes that you completed on prior turns. Just to be clear... I'm talking about ONE destination card only. (I realize that you can be working on multiple destinations at the same time.)
@WatchItPlayed4 жыл бұрын
Hey Sharalyn, 1) You can claim ANY section of the map, no matter what Destination cards you might be holding. For example, you could claim San Francisco to Los Angeles, even if that was not a part of any of your destination routes. The benefit in claiming sections that are part of your destination routes, is that you may be able to complete a line that connects those too locations, which can then provide you with points at the end of the game. 2) You can claim routes anywhere on the board, in any order, and none of them have to be connected to any other routes you've already claimed.

I had some trouble distinguishing the blue and green trains. For future accessibility for people with some form of colorblindness, I recommend using colours with non-adjacent colours where possible (and also not red/green or yellow/blue, which are the most common colorblindness varieties).

Yes, a good note for the publishers, to be sure.

Point of clarification if you would. If someone draws a face down card from the top of the deck can you then draw the locomotive card from the face up cards or no?
@WatchItPlayed11 ай бұрын
Nope, because you can't publicly take a Wild card and a second card.

Thank you but if a player runs out of destination cards so will the player in its next turn have to pick destination cards or we can make random routes without destination cards ?
@WatchItPlayed3 жыл бұрын
Hey Rashmi, you can always make random routes, whether you have destination cards or not.

Thank you. This was excellent. Q: if I have 5 or more ticket cards and I see the game is ending soon and don’t want to get stuck with them, how do I discard them from my hand. ? Thank you.
@WatchItPlayed4 ай бұрын
@@jimhausman Well, that’s the catch: you can’t! That’s why you have to be careful about which you commit to keeping, and the ones you do keep you I’ll want to work towards completing during the turns you have. Hope that helps!

Great job on explaining the game! The one rule I don't like is being able to get routes without being connected to them. Our son always takes all the large routes and wins with all his large route points. It basically takes the fun out of the game. I feel the rules should be changed some how to prevent getting all the large routes without being connected to them. We may try changing the rule preventing the take over of all the long routes. We're thinking of saying that you can own 1 ea of the 5 and 6 space routes without being connected to them. If you want to own another of either a 5 or 6 space route you have to be connected to it. What's your thoughts?
@WatchItPlayed5 жыл бұрын
Players are always free to make up their own rules, but I don't personally like doing that. If you change the rules because one person is always winning, what do you to do if that change means someone else suddenly starts always winning? Does that mean you need to change the rules again? Ticket to Ride has been around for a long while and has been played by millions of people, so I'm personally confident in the rules and the game's balance. I can't really assess what's going on at your gaming table without being there, to see if other players just aren't playing as well as they could be to offset your son's clever play - either way, sounds like you're son is a sharp player!

Question: when you have completed your routes and you see your opponent/s have very few train cars left, do you have to draw another destination card? If you don’t, what do you do for the final several turns? Can you lay train cars down on routes that you don’t have destination cards for?
@WatchItPlayed3 жыл бұрын
Hey Cyn, jut so it's clear, you can always put trains down on any route. They never have to be helping you complete your Destination cards. You also never have to draw additional destination cards. So, if I had all mine completed and it was near the end of the game, I would just try to claim routes on the board for the points they give. Does that make sense?
@TheGRBman3 жыл бұрын
You could, for sure. BUT...if you have good connections, you might want to draw more destination cards to see if you can grab extra points!

Great video!!! I wanted to see if this game would be something my dad could understand and I could play along with him. He likes trains but is getting older and losing some coordination so playing with his trains is getting harder. I think a train themed game would be something he'd enjoy. Curious, how do you determine the "longest route"? Is it based on the number of trains between the two points? Thank you again!

Great video! I just recently discovered this game and love it! 1 question regarding drawing train cards.... Can someone blind draw from the top of the deck, and then draw from the face up cards for their second train card? TIA
@WatchItPlayed Жыл бұрын
You sure can - just remember, if you draw from the top of the deck, then when you go to take a face up card, it cannot be a multi-colored train.

Thank you, Rodney, for the excellent video! Could you clarify this rule, please: if there are no train cards left and no discards but there are still face-up cards available can a player still draw the face-up? The Rules says "...that there are no cards left in the deck..."?
@WatchItPlayed11 ай бұрын
You can draw cards if there are some face up in the row still.
@andreys645911 ай бұрын
@@WatchItPlayed Does it means the card drawn from the face-ups doesn’t get to be replaced with a new card from the deck and the total count of the face-ups will be less than five?
