This came out really nice, I like it a lot. The way you keep experimenting is wonderful. When I first saw the end result one thing that popped into my head was 'space'. Not that this one looks like space, it certainly looks like a close up of a geode, but that is it possible to make a tie dye look like what you might see in a picture of a nebula in space.

I *really* like this one, enough to try it myself; I've been looking at the geode patterns and I have to say that I like the diagonal nature of the pattern much more than the usual rough circles of a regular geode shirt. Thank you for this-- I think I know what my next project is!

Also, I thought of something-- if you'd like to try an alternative to the cake-mold edges, how about picking up a closed-cell foam yoga mat and cutting it into strips? It'll stand up a bit better (it's stiffer, though still extremely flexible) and you should be able to get a *ton* of strips at least 5 to 6 feet long depending on your mat; I found them online for less than $10 after a bit of poking around. Just a thought.

Love this shirt! I do not think geodes need a center especially when they come out this beautiful. I never would have thought to put grey in it. What a great idea to produce some really amazing colors. Do you think it work with a single stripe of a green or pink in it too or would that be too distracting? Thank you for the wonderful video.

Thank you! I love adding either gray or brown to most geodes to break up the color. I think it helps to make them more earthy. You can always add a touch of another color if you'd like. There isn't a wrong way to tie dye!

I think that would work well. I would definitely do a diagonal though - I think it would be more flattering and elongate the legs. Let me know how it goes! 🙂

A question for you: What kind of twine do you use to tie your shirts up that produces such clear separation lines? I tried this shirt using a spool of 1/4" white elastic that I had handy; it tied just fine, but the separation lines are almost completely absent (probably because the fibers on the elastic allowed the dye in.) So, what would give better results? I love my shirt, but it doesn't look like a geode.

I use an artificial deer sinew. It is wax coated and so when the sinew locks down on itself, it won't allow any of the dye under that area because of the wax coating. Here is a link to the kind that I buy from Amazon: amzn.to/2EF28Lu

Question on liquid dye: how long will mixed liquid last in bottles without losing saturation? Thank you love your videos!

Thank you! It really depends on the color and where you keep them. If you store your dyes in a cool location they will keep longer than if you store them where it is hot. Also, I've noticed that the darker colors tend to fade faster. They will go on the shirt looking normal, but they won't be as dark when they are rinsed as they normally are if the dye is too old. Most colors if they are kept in a cool place will last about 2 weeks. However, I usually don't trust black to still be good that long. When I mix black dye, I try to use it all within a day or two to get the darkest black I can.

@@FunEndeavors thank you for the info. I live in central Florida, work outside and its very hot and humid right now. Sometimes I will add more powder to the liquid dye bottle if I'm running low while dying. Love your geode shirt. Will give a try.

I love this! Reminds me of an amethyst stone. I really like the geode look where it doesn't have a center. Those can get too circular sometimes. Do you find purples and blues take forever to rinse out?

Thank you - I really like this one too! Yes, blues especially. Most of the time I end up soaking them in some hot water and a little bit of Blue Dawn dish soap until most of the excess dye is out. Otherwise it does take forever to rinse.

Do you mean tie it the same way? If so, absolutely. This design would work on almost anything.
