Tie Dyed SOCKS!! 🎨🧦 The Savages of Show & Tell (Expectation vs Reality)

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Twist or scrunch up the socks and bind them with elastic bands
2. Dampen socks and wring out excess water
3. Mix the dyes and apply to the socks
4. Put socks into plastic bags and let it sit for 24 hours in order for the dye to set
5. Rinse thoroughly under running water and launder according to dye instructions.

The only thing I remember about socks in elementary school is I had certain guys in my class that would subconsciously kick off their shoes in class, exposing their socked feet. When the teacher saw they would yell at them to get their shoes back on in case we had a fire drill and it was always the same guys doing it with that embarrassed/confused look like "Why are my shoes off?" I always would laugh under my breathe if they got caught without shoes on, guess I am a bit of a sadist.

Question : how did you get your color to stay bright for the sock? do you soak your socks into warm water before starting pattern or dye? do you wash your socks out with cold water and then put in washer or dryer for end results?

Hey! When I filmed the reveal of the colours, this was straight out of the bag without being washed. After my first wash, the colour wasn't AS full but still very colourful. In this video I didn't soak the socks first but I have done that method before. Both turn out pretty similar, but if you have the time I'd soak them first. And then after they've soaked in separate bags I do wash them in cold water (I wring them out throughly under cold water, but try to be gentle at the same time because you don't wanna stretch out the fabric). I hang dry mine, dryer works too tho. Hope that helps Jasmine :)

I am probably one of the few people who never did like Show N Tell. I was always too nervous going in front of people when I was younger or someone making fun of what I brought. I probably am not the only one though.

Amy Warner I put it in the instructions bc I read that as well from others, but you’re right I didn’t do it myself. I did another batch after and dampened the socks before applying the dye and they came out the same so it didn’t make a difference 🙂

How did u get the creation for sock #4? How did u fold it ?

Sock #4 I folded the sock from the top to the bottom with little horizontal folds all the way down. Then use two elastic bands vertically to create 3 sections :). You can see the dying part from 2:02-2:11
