Finally got round to watching this and after a few weeks of thinking about it this video has sent me over the edge... I’ve ordered the Dragon Emperor and 3 boxes of Easterling warriors with 6 Black Dragons as well as Rutabi and Brorgir. I’m blaming you guys 😂 I was doing so well holding off the temptation.

Finally! Ive been waiting for you guys to treat the Easterlings. I have mixed feeling about that dragon emperor though it seems a bit like pay to win. I love the model nonetheless and the rules feel exactly what the army needed. Maybe it is just that I have such awesome captains converted(including 1 with chariot) and love running generic heroes with 2h axes smashing so called "Legends"

The dragon Emperor is very very strong, Especially for his points cost. It will be very interesting to see what happens once he's on the tabletop but the snippets I've seen from a couple of batreps he seems veryyyyyy strong. Wonder if a nerf in August will happen. I do love me some converted captain running around smashing face. -Sean

Coming out the gate with the take "Amdur = best evil combat hero in the game, besides monsters" is really a hot take. I definitely wouldn't agree. Just one example, Bolg on warg costs only 30p points more, F7, S5 Burly and D7 make Bolg better. For sure there are a lot of special rules for both Amdur and Bolg. In the end still Bolg has the better fight value and kills way better. Amdur needs a 6 to wound a D7 model, Bolg need just a 4. Against Dwarfes with D7 for example Amdur struggles, Bolg can cut them down with ease and doing heroic combats to get terror, harbinger of evil and even mighty hero. Let's be real Bolg and Azog are OP. Hobbit power creep. Azog is much more expensive than Amdur. Bolg costs only 30points more and i would pay those 30points every day of the week :D

@@NoobsandMen Liam just mentioned Azog and Bolg, rightfully so. What a wise comment 😄👍 Then Riley said both "are a lot more expensive". Liam and Sean agreed. That's the point I was triggered and was like "no, don't agree so easily! Come on guys" 😂 X is more expensive, so it's not better than Y is so easy to say and often wrong. For example a High Elf warrior with shield is 10p, Moria Black shield 8p. Nobody would say, High Elves with shield are 2p more, there not better 😂 High Elf with shield outclasses a Moria Black shield. I think everybody would agree. Not sayin' that Amdur ist like a black shield. Amdur is also A Tier for me. Just sayin' his combat power is often overestimated. Against heroes or troops with D7 he often does nothing and like Liam mentioned the D6 means Amdur himself gets wounded with S4 on just 5s. Would you pay 30p more to get Bolg in Easterling Uniform? If i could take Bolg in an Easterling army i surely would take Bolg over Amdur 😎

I feel many of these characters are a bit of a trap. Rutabi having bonuses to trapped models is a rule that should basically be ignored, the Dragon Emperor appears to be a combat hero but actually isn't (he's just a bully and buffer). Easterlings are an army that takes experience rather than book knowledge of the stats. Also, I doubt if Easterlings should ever be taken outside of the Legendary Legion.

They absolutely should be taken out of the legion, the legion is great don't get me wrong but being able to have Khamul or Amdur in an Easterling list is faaantastic. Riley's podiumed a few tournaments with Easterlings, they're a great army in or out of the legion. -Liam

@@NoobsandMen i like the idea of you pick one of two big heros, and a play style. you take the emporer and go the legion. this becomes a complete wall, for your opponent to get through. or you take amdur and maybe khamul. i think this list could get a higher kill rate. rhutabi is always the second pick haha, and can be the leader with amdur. she is defs S tier.

Great Tier list :) i liked easterlings already before but now they feel Like a complete Army with a lot of possibilities. and the Design sticks out really cool. when is Khand Up? ;)

Black Dragon mounted banner is S tier. Everytime I have used him he has beaten anything short of a named hero and slaughtered warriors. Need to add blood on his banner pole

Amdur is still really, really really good. He's mounted, which the new heroes can't, and he's hand a half sword/blood and glory, which Rutabi isn't

Unless your looking at 1000 points your probably not tacking all big name heros (amdur, DE, Rutabi) and when your taking the DE you have two choices and in all honesty rutabi is without a doubt the take. We do love amdur but he does move from S to A -Sean

@@NoobsandMen i would move to suggest that Rhutabi is the only S tier take, maybe with brogir. amdur and DE are both good, but you have a big choice between them and the playstyle they bring.

Amdur S tier. The Emperor can't do what he does. To slow, and you need to protect those palanqin buffs, because once they are gone he's just a very expensive and lesser Amdur. If anything Rutabi and the Emperor has freed Amdur up, as they can take on the 'leader' role anchoring a troop block while he can focus on being the tactical nuke he was born to be

He's still solid for sure, but I think he becomes a little more limited in what lists you out him in now. The Emp is just so cheap for what he does you want him in most Easterling lists but then to get numbers you got for cheaper heroes over Amdur after that. He still fits well with Rutabi but I don't think he's an auto take in the list anymore. Still incredible tho -Liam

Hot take: if you are facing a shooting army immediately dismount the emperor to get 6 extra guys, but otherwise the emperor isn't for fighting, only buffing until he dismounts.

The issue with the captains is the Fight 4. The hand and a half axes are nice though.

A good friend of mine won a (smallish) tourney with ruffians. He didn't slow play, but he played to objectives. (The best part was the match against Smaug that he won, as smaug only killed ~6 ruffians a turn on average).

Acolytes are the perfect flanking troop, 2 attk and can leap around your opponents anchor point. And in a pinch perfect to have a couple of pike supporting them. Personally at 800+ points I'd love to see 8-12 acolytes. -Sean

Yeah I'd probably slot in 3-5 at 500pts The low defence is a worry so keep them at the back of your lines to protect from shooting and hit your opponent with them at the right time coming around one flank -sean

We never compare these lists next to LLs, these are our opinions on the profiles in the pure army. Also the LL is kinda meh compared to the pure list anyway, Amdur is a beast with the emp at his back -Liam

Dragon emperor is too buffed, it will be nerf soon, don't worry xD they are just testing him but wait until the first tournament then u will see how they nerf him. Rutabi is very good leader, but I will see her more like support hero than duelist, because u need her master of battle and trapped rules to get the best of her, so I will put amdur like my killer champ then rutabi as leader. If I ever play the emperor then the rest of the list should be generic captains and form a big phalanx.

Poorly... I've never tried it. What do you think of only using 1 row of pikes so it feels like spears? You could go cavalry heavy. It could be interesting to have a few mounted dragon knights and a bunch of kataphracts supporting some archers with a few pikes. Or, all mounted Easterlings with an alliance, such as Mordor and Warg Riders supported by a fell beast Nazgul (Shadow Lord? Witch King?)? Haven't run it, but it could be a fun Cavalry spam with hard hitting heroes.
