im happy u r well. i have was diagnosed with inguinal hernia 2 months ago and im suffering from high anxiety and depression. my surgeon has put me on watch and wait. im as old as u but i already feel 60 or 70 since the time i have found out about my hernia. its like im living someones else life. i used to be so active i used to exercise and ... right now im terrified to do them. its like im living someones else life. im so not used to a life like this. but i think for the rest of my life ill have to live like u and be so careful. its sth i should get used to. thank u for sharing your experience. after hearing what u said i feel im not alone and i feel much better.

My brother in law had an inguinal hernia as well. He had surgery and is 100% better. I do have a very, very small inguinal hernia that was picked up on a CT scan but it was so small they didnt mention it to me. I saw the result on my CT report. It does not bother me at all either. I cannot speak to the inguinal hernia myself and comparing my experience to my brother in laws, hiatal hernia of the stomach where mine was a bit more challenging in the long term. My brother in laws symptoms were bad initially. The pain was severe if i recall but no 'GERD' related symptoms. Surgery fixed the issue completely. He didn't have dietary restrictions that i remember hearing about. It was more like a gallbladder surgery (which he and I both had). Small recovery time, no real restrictions on diet, etc., other than for a short time post-surgery regarding lifting, exercise, etc.. He has also returned to a very, very normal life. He exercises all the time, lifts heavy weights, runs long durations, etc. All this is very anecdotal and varies from person to person i am sure. And as i mention, ALWAYS speak with you doctors, etc., but if you feel as bad as you do, surgery might not be a bad way to go. It worked very well for him and it was no where near as restrictive as the surgery i had, symptoms beforehand, etc. His pain initially was bad but that was a short time and was resolved 100% after surgery. I was afraid of the impact the surgery would have on my body but my life was already impacted. i was willing to make other life changes so that the symptoms would go away. If that meant not lifting as heavy...so be it. I can still lift, I just have to do it a little differently. Just something to think about. Not a doctor and not giving medical advice, just some experiences i thought i would share.

Had both February 28 2023. Been in/out hospital since. Mostly in. Complications. Not sure this was a good decision

I've been following your videos of your progress since a year. Glad you're feeling better. How many centimeters did your hiatal hernia measured before your surgery? It would be interesting if you did a video showing the endoscopy photograph of your hiatal hernia from your endoscopy procedure. Just the photo, this way it gives your viewers an idea of what it appears during an endoscopy procedure.

Hello, I am 75 years old with a para esophageal hiatal hernia of 6 cm, and drs want to do surgery. I suffer from peripheral neuropathy and the reason for the HH is I got severe anemia from bleeding ulcers around the esophagus. They will do a Nissan fundiplication. Any advice?

My hiatal hernia came from crunches imho. I am fine now two years post surgery.

Glad to hear. Guess I'll never know for sure, but as time has gone on, I wonder if the crunches did me in too.
