Tiger shark eating a wild boar in Hawaii

I recommend not swimming or surfing after heavy rainfall due to flooding and potential for dead animals to be swept out to sea. Heavy rainfall also causes murky water, which makes it harder for sharks to see what we are. Land animals are generally not of interest to sharks, however, if they look like very easy prey, that is potentially already dead, a shark may go for it. I was excited to witness this with Cam Grant drone footage @KaimanaOceanSafari! 🦈 #tigershark #hawaii #ocean #sharkdiving #sharkpredation #sharkbait

If you'd be so kind, please explain your reasoning behind saying- at 2:28 -that: "sharks are called the doctors of the sea, because they remove dead, dying and weak animals, so the strong can survive." My niece and I just watched this and she said: "Isn't that the opposite of what doctors do? Doctors try to extend the life and health of the weak and dying. No?" Your thoughts? 😊

Can anyone name another example? I'm asking. What you are saying is absolutely correct, but maybe fill in the facts. First I pray for his family, its heartbreaking. That being said, its not close to the norm in most shark attacks. He was standing in 5ft of water were resorts commonly dump scraps in off season but nothing was posted. That shark was 14 feet, pregnant and starving and emaciated. Even in that condition 14 ft is a massive shark. She came in where easy food could normally be grabbed, tragically Vladimir was there. Its still an Apex predator whose going to do whatever it needs to survive. Short of staying on land, there wouldn't of been anything him or anyone else could've done. We all saw it, but the force and speed she came in at must've been massive. Horrific. However of the 20 fatalities a year worldwide humans are mistaken but the immediate bite is catastrophic. If shark commonly ate humans there'd be far more fatalities and no bodies, like Egypt. Its a highly evolved Apex predator around for thousands of years. That have over 450 million years of survival instincts built in, use as needed.

Same as the Great white goldfish that horrifically ended Simon Nellist off Sydney. He should have just "redirected" it eh? Yeah, the water in this vid was REALLY cloudy - no wonder tiger "accidentally" ate the pig - just couldn't see what it really was eh? Hungry apex predators will eat helpless or dead creatures - and that DOES include humans occasionally, and it is NOT "accidental". Don't insult us with the rare "negative interactions" and "mistaken identity" carp. No one says they are "mindless eating machines" in current year (unless they are trolling you). But sharks are NOT Bambi.

This commentator isn't reporting accurately. I lived in Hawaii for 15 years, on the north shore of Kauai. It rained a lot, especially in winter. I surfed regularly, never saw a boar carcass, or even heard of anyone seeing one, nor goat, cow, deer, dog, chicken, cat. And she said sharks are called the "doctor's" of the sea? Never heard anyone ever refer to them as such, especially given the reason for calling them Drs. Made 0 sense. Next time, just video, no narration.😊

Sometimes it is wise to actually look into a statistic before posting your opinion. You can safely say that millions of people enter the ocean worldwide annually. 40% of humanity live near an ocean. In 2023 there were a total of only 69 unprovoked attacks by sharks worldwide. Only 20 were fatal. Shark attack is incredibly rare. Lions kill 200. Mosquitoes nearly a million/year. Deer kill 200 AMERICANS annually. One species of snake kills 138,000 people a year. So in your attempt to sound educated, you achieved the exact opposite.

Pigs are good swimmers if it was alive, it wouldn't have been floating on it's side. Pigs are also panicky even if exhausted it would have definitely thrashed if it had been alive when the shark bumped it the 1st time. This is a very common occurrence during heavy storms. We see sharks drag off moose & deer carcasses all the time. It's nothing new the smell of the carcasses draws them in & sharks are opportunistic.

It’s also a good reminder to show people that you are not a carnivore. Humans are all herbivores by nature. If we were carnivores, we would be like the shark and we will bite through bones and tendons and organs. We wouldn’t be hunting with arrows and guns and we wouldn’t be cooking our food either we would eat it just as is and we would lap up roadkill like it was nothing but it last me don’t do that because we’re not carnivores you’re not a shark you’re not a lion tiger or a bear we are herbivores by nature I don’t know why people think we need to consume dead animals in order to survive because we don’t.

We wouldn’t have evolved to being human without eating meat and bone marrow. But sure, people are herbivores 👍

I believe that technically we are considered omnivores. We have canines and incisors for a reason. Having said that, I'm a vegetarian.

Please do not tell me you consider that a logical deduction😂 The major problem in the modern world is that people do not have to survive like they used to, hence why bored "vegans" do not respect the people whom farm lands and animals to provide food for them. Not even lions necessarily eat all the bones from animals they hunt, because they can eat with more precision than a shark (sharks do not have claws & arms to hold their prey, so they have to eat every thing that can fit in their mouths). If you wonder around wild chimpanzees, there is a good chance that they will rip extremeties from your body such as your nose, ears, fingers, etc. and even eat it. That's because they are wild animals and don't care about vegan politics. You on the other hand are a human (not an animal) and have the intellectual choice on deciding what you eat, but you are fooling yourself if you think the farming/production of plants can be done at a rate to feed the whole populous without further hurting the population of animals/insects killed in the process of keeping the plants healthy.
