Foam rolling my calves are ALWAYS so painful!! (But so satisfying)... I like standing halfway on a step too, with the heel sticking out and pressing down into it to stretch the calf (but I don’t raise onto the balls of feet, I’ll try that next!)

Yes it feels so good right!! Raise i love doing the stair stretch too, I have found over the years adding more eccentric movements after stretches helps with long term adaptations to get the flexibility to stay and not just jump back!

The lesson on musculature was interesting, and showing and explaining the two variations of the wall-stretch was helpful. I haven’t found the seated calf stretch to ever accomplish anything, and this time was no different. I would have appreciated more insight into foam rolling, since I find that it helps to rotate my legs on the foam until I find a particularly tender area to roll out (for my calves, it is often most tight on the outside of my calves, rather than straight back). Perhaps this is because I’m carrying extra weight, and that’s where I can more effectively roll, but I don’t really know. I also find that sometimes doing a sort of shallow squat will help stretch my calves out more than the wall stretch does.
