The knots and tactics are a great addition. Thanks!

another great video...not just the tie...but how to rig to fish effectively too! I think dropping this behind another one of your patterns I love... weighted "holy grail"

Thanks for another great video. I appreciate learning how you rig it and even what knots to use!

Thanks Tim, Nice bug, and you did great on that hopper pattern with Tom the other day. Wish I could get to the symposium maybe later 😉

Always enjoyable and informative Tim. Thanks! I gotten away from tying directly to the bend of a hook because I find I snag too many fish. Nothing more disappointing than to think you got a good fish, only to find you've actually snagged a smaller fish. My favorite new method of adding a second fly is something I learned from watching Kelly Galloup talk about "drop shotting". Simply make a perfection loop in one end of a short piece of tippet, loop it around the leader, then bring the tip of the section though the perfection loop, snug it up and slide it down the leader against a knot. Easy to do and quick to replace. And the "doubled tippet" created by the perfection loop keeps it perpendicular to the rest of the leader, creating less leader fouling. Joel

If i'm running a double nymph rig, I usually take a page out of the euro handbook and tie a section of tipped in about 15" above my bottom fly. I can usually get 3 fly changes on this section of tippet before it's too short to tie a new fly on, and in that case, I'll just tie on another section or then use the perfection loop as it gives a great stopper knot.

Finally got around to tying this. A very fun and simple tie.

Dropshot technique has upped my midge game. I do a over hand knot and put on some split shots as needed. I then do two or even three droppers and tightlines it. I think that when fished in slow water no matter how steady you hold the flies it gives them a jigging action that just works super well on slow soft water that an indicator can't match.

Nice! Tight lines🕷️🐛🐜!!!!!

Watched hundreds of tightlines videos. Really good one here. Dry fly fisherman for decades. Accept the adage 90% of trout diet subsurface. Love emergers. Really good fly. Doubt I could tie it. Really liked the suggested description as to how to fish the fly. As always kudos to your videos.

Tim, do you ever have a problem with the utc body thread being frayed fairly quickly after getting a few fish? The thread is made of a bunch small fibers, as you know. But any coating turns the color of the thread. Any info will be greatly appreciated. 🤙🤙🤙

TMC 200R goes down to size 22. Not quite as small as your Dai-Riki. I've just tied a bunch of midge larva on TMC 2488 hooks. Those go down to size 26. I caught lots of fish on my midge larva tied on the 2488 hooks on the Madison this past season.

Hi Tim. I’m looking for my first vise and I’m thinking about the dyna king Trekker. Im looking for a vise that will last a lifetime. I was wondering if you’ve had any experience with a vise like this or any advice if I should buy it or not. Thanks!
@MarcTelesha Жыл бұрын
I'm not Tim but any name brand vise will last you several life times. Regal, Dynaking, Renzeti, Peak and Griffin will do. I used a Regal for over 30 years and now have a Griffith Mongoose with rotary function and I believe my great grandchildren could inherit them.
