These guys catch and tag whites every winter down at Holton head. They are helping White shark research in the Atlantic ocean.

Is it legal to fish for Great Whites? I thought they were protected? Its always possible to hook one by accident.

They're protected, but im working with scientists and have a permit to target and handle them.

When I lived on Parris island right across the bay from Hilton head we used to catch some gnarly sharks almost every day. 8 foot was the biggest. Right off the pier.

Imagine if that guy would have slipped... that didn't look safe at all. The shark would "probably" not have done anything. It looked like a midsize whitey. A large would have pulled him into the water.

didnt see any release... the shark ist still hooked at the end of the vid. great whites are a protected species, don´t get it why to fish on them. im an angler/fisherman as well, but thats sad to see
