Very helpful video! I bought a knurled melonite bolt handle for about 50 bucks online, had no idea how to put it in until I watched this.

I just acquired a brand new TIKKA T3 Sporter in .308Win last week and am stoked to see there's such simple & innovative mods like this I can do to make it custom fit & really beef up it's durability. Thanks for sharing this.

If you do rotate the incorrect way put you cocking indicator in a vise and pull the bolt and rotate. No need to be Hercules. Great video, thanks for the info. And yes I turned the shroud the incorrect way.

Hey Diesel. another way to do it is to put the bolt into the action backwards and use it to leverage the firing pin assembly to back it out of the deep groove.
@evilfish4568 жыл бұрын
+Tikka Shooters Found it hard to do the backwards method (my friend found no problem at all). I do the old "remington bolt to sholaces" trick. Just google it and it will come clear. Just my 2 cents

Cool. I'll Google that method and shoot some video showing different ways. Thanks!

Tikka actually makes a small molded plastic tool (not much to it really) to turn the shroud in case it drops into that large detent, it works great!. It came free with my Tikka T3 Sporter but not with my Tikka T3 Lite. Not sure why, it can't cost more than $2.00.

Congratulations on your new rifle! It will definitely treat you well. We have some made in Montana parts we are working on right now as well. Keep an eye out for announcements...

I found if you unload the spring just put the bolt in backwards and turn the handle slowly until it clicks. Hope this was helpful

Just curious, is the process the same, rotation in the same direction, etc, with a Tikka T3X Left handed rifle?

Yes sir! Sure is!

hi on the original tikka tac a1 bolt knob [plastic] there is a hole with a allen key screw going up into it to the metal part of the bolt could you tell me what the purpose of this is
@mountaintacticalcompany6 жыл бұрын
rodney wells That allen key puts pressure on the inside of that recess in the steel knob. If you loosen it, you can remove the plastic from your handle.

When I disassembled my Tikka bolt, I removed the 3mm Allen wrench from the slot and now I can't get the bolt back together. What can I do to fix this?
@mountaintacticalcompany8 жыл бұрын
Ouch! I've done this and it is a pain to get back together. The best way I've found to lock the firing pin back is to put the floating end in a vise, pull the spring side so the gap is exposed, and put a flat head screw driver blade in to hold it open. Be sure to wrap the floating end so the vise does not damage it.

What is a bolt shroud?
@robertbrandywine6 жыл бұрын
A piece that covers the back end of the bolt to prevent any escaping gas from a blown primer from reaching the shooter's eyes.

Are these compatible with the t3 ctr as well?
@mountaintacticalcompany16038 жыл бұрын
+Jason Yoast Yes they are! The only difference with the CTR is the bottom metal.
@JasonYoast8 жыл бұрын
+Mountain Tactical Company Awesome thanks.. does the CTR also need the recoil lug like the others?
@mountaintacticalcompany16038 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply. I'm still recovering from Shot Show! All Tikkas need a replacement lug. They put a cheap aluminum one on all of their rifles.
