The only time I've ever returned an animal to a pet store, was the only time I bought a pet from a pet store. It was a cute little hamster... cute VICIOUS little hamster! When I tried to put food and water in his cage he would leap in the air and sink its teeth into my arm. He was just like the rabbit in "Monty Python's Holy Grail"! We got a white mouse instead, the kind they sell for snake food. She was adorable and rode around in my shirt pocket and loved having her fur brushed with a toothbrush.

11:10 There was a study done years ago, where they detected that plants communicate with each other on a frequency that we cannot hear. My kid works at a pet store and she says the hamsters are little bastards that try and bite everyone.. she tries to sway them to get mice instead, they're much easier to keep and really cute. I was super ick on the mice until she got one.. but he's utterly irresistible. Thimbletack is beloved by all.
@darkwyve
@darkwyve Жыл бұрын
Not sure how Hamsters got pushed to be such a prominent pet for kids, because mice are just *so* much better, imo (they just get a bad rap). Less hassle, maintenance, and *way* friendlier in literally every circumstance I've encountered with my friends, family, or personally. When I first got pet mice I was so worried about them biting (mainly because my cousin had a hamster and it was evil... not really, but you know what I mean), but in the years that have passed I've literally only been 'nipped' a few times (not even a real bite), and that was only when they were real young/getting used to me, and a few times when my first one got so old her senses were shot, and sometimes she'd confuse the food I offered with a finger, but once again only a nip, and she'd stop, realizing she made a mistake.

I got my son a hamster when he was 5, but the thing was vicious! I took it back and got the sweet little white mouse that my son wanted because she was so friendly. Although it was his mouse, she napped in my shirt pocket while I did chores. My son went to a Christian kindergarten, where they had a few pets. His favorite was the hedgehog. One teacher brought her boa constrictor to school and decided it would be good for little kids to watch it eat a live white mouse. My son freaked, tried to save the mouse that looked just like his beloved pet, but the teacher backhanded him and knocked him into the wall. She got fired, but they also kicked my son out of that school for "disrespecting" his teacher.

@13thMaiden Жыл бұрын
Hamsters got pushed into kids due to "cuteness" factor. Many ppl don't realize these guys are SOLITARY, NOCTURNAL, and AGGRESSIVE. So let's say you're a hamster, stuck in this small space with other roommates you really don't wanna be around, and during your sleep cycle, you're forcibly woken up by some Karen and her snot-nosed kid who wants to see you run on a wheel or hold you. Of COURSE you're gonna be a bitey lil' bastard, it's your only defense against being rudely awakened and forced to placate some kid. Hamsters are hardwired to be aggressive anyways because of where they evolved (Syria). A screaming, angry bluff or random biting charges are pretty good to freak out and deter predators. If you must have a hamster, get only 1, a properly sized cage, good bedding, and tunneling toys and chews. And then be prepared to do a lot of hand taming. Don't expect them to instantly like you, Robos are about the only ones I've seen that MIGHT like you right off the bat. Most are going to be wary and need a trust build up. MEANWHILE! Lab mice, like the ones you see in the pet stores as either pets (often called fancy mice) or feeders, have been bred for docility a long while (atleast starting in the 17th century) while hamsters have only been in the trade since the 1938 (which btw, any pet or laboratory hamster can be traced back to a brother-sister breeding pair caught in 1930) so mice naturally have a much longer time of domestication compared to hamsters, meaning they're more docile and therefore more friendly. If someone is looking for a youngster a pocket pet, mice are definitely the better choice.

The struggle of fine hair that no one understands is that you can literally do nothing with it beside a clip (one made for a child) or a pony tail and it still looks stupid. Also the fact that it just knots constantly makes wearing it down not an option either. Styling in any capacity is just out of the question.

Cleve Backster (sp?) used human lie detector equipment to hook up some house plants, and found they reacted to A. Him burning a leaf with a lit cigarette B. Him dropping live shrimp into boiling water in the kitchen and C. after that, every time he came near them. Of COURSE plants are alive. People are dopey. Plants eat, drink, breathe, and reproduce; we often eat their babies (e.g. tomatoes! and berries) They also respond to different types of music; as evidenced by whether they lean towards the speakers, away, or grew twisted. Apparently hard rock, death metal isn't favoured.

The engagement nails thing is so true. I got mine done before a weekend trip with my boyfriend JUST IN CASE. and proceeded to have an emotional meltdown the first night of our trip because I was trying so hard not to get my hopes up and i had completely failed and I knew that wasn't fair because if he wasn't planning to propose that weekend, i would have ruined the trip for both of us just because I am ridiculous. Props to him for resisting what must have been an overwhelming urge to grab the ring out of his suitcase right then and there, just to stop my downward spiral. This total sweetheart just held me and talked me back down and then popped the question the next day. (Don't worry though, he has given me appropriate levels of crap for putting us both through that nonsense. 😂) On the other end of the spectrum is my poor sister, who will never quite forgive her husband and I for the fact that in their proposal pictures, she's wearing workout clothes and he's in a suit. That's what we get for trying a casual "hey, your sis (me) hasn't seen the awesome sunset from the roof, we should all go up there so she can see it!" approach. Whoops - our bad.

For the both of us the world stood still in that moment and nothing else mattered. I thought that would be the case for everyone. It's wild to think people would get mad for being proposed to without having their nails done or dapper clothing on. Like giiiirl, he's proposing then and there, he's saying he wants to share everything he is and has with you and grow old with you. Who gives a frick about nails??

I feel like adults have no excuse for staring, or acting any kind of way. I could totally see a kid doing that, too. It’s funny because as a parent you can teach them manners all day every day, but sometimes they just blurt out whatever crosses their mind. I’ve had my kids embarrass me more than once in public. It’s like they have no filter, and it takes years for them to learn to think before they speak. So they’ll just blurt out whatever thought crosses their mind. Lol I was walking with my nephew in a store once, and we walked by this couple. Out of nowhere my nephew pointed to the man and loudly said “Look, there’s my dad!!” The man immediately kinda turned red and chucked and the lady looked over at him like- WTF?? I was like “Sorry, I don’t know why he just said that. No, buddy that’s NOT your dad.” It was awkward and we just went on our way. I was thinking- WTF made him just say that? I wonder what the couple said after they left. 😂

When he asked what's wrong I told him, brutal honesty, "this is what I watched when we were separated in 2012. Can we watch it together so I can have a better memory?" I heard something pop on him, he immediately left, came back with homemade hot chocolate and a sundae. He felt so bad, he left for the store, came back, made me sweets and watched the last of the lorax with me.

I heard all about that kinda thing also when learning about the carnivore diet and how apparently something similar happens when you chew and or cook plants and such that it converts into whatever that's apparently not good to ingest and how depending on what your eating has to be prepared and or cooked a very particular way to not cause that kinda thing or the whole carcinogens thing etc....all very interesting tho gotta say and am finding out more and more everyday that absolutely everything you thought you knew and were "taught" is totally ass backwards!

Yeah, studies like this were debunked so many times. In fact the studies were literally used to demonstrate how useless the "sensors" were at showing meaningless data and creating spurious results. That's a tough little hamster! I rescued an orphaned possum from a road once, his mother and siblings got run over and he was the only survivor. I put him in a cage at home, but he escaped and lived in our house for a couple of weeks eating cat food at night. We pulled out the hide-a-bed on the sofa for a friend who was spending the night, and found that was where Opey had made himself a nest. Our friend had never seen a possum IRL, so she was startled, to say the least! I let Opey go at a creek the next day. He seemed to be able to take care of himself by then, and most likely found some friends.

He would LITERALLY climb the bars of his cage and hang there till I blew some weed smoke in his cage.
