I love that her description of drop shipping is 100% not drop shipping. For anyone who isn't aware, drop shipping is when you list an item for sale that you don't have. When it sells, you then buy it from somewhere else and have it shipped directly to the person who bought it from you. The drop shipper is a middle man that is basically just facilitating the sale between the customer and whoever is shipping and making money off the markup. Her description of drop shipping is literally just normal wholesale.

@fallenbee20 күн бұрын
I definitely agree, but I will say that some of the criticisms aren't really fair. Like saying you can get it cheaper online (therefore anyone who sells their jewelry for more than those websites is automatically scamming) as a criticism is bullshit. Just because this million dollar company is selling the same type of jewelry for $1 doesn't mean someone selling it for more than that is scamming? Especially since these websites are known for selling fake jewelry, like jewelry that isn't even real metal or has plastic instead of gemstones. Of course its only $1 online, it's not real 😭 As someone who also sells jewelry, that criticism is the reason it's hard to sell jewelry. Because people don't understand why yours is this price when Amazon or AliExpress sells it for $1. They treat you like you're a million dollar business and just don't understand sales at all. Like if it's genuinely a stolen design like in this video, yeah sure that's valid. But these companies steal designs from artists, meaning that you're gonna see the same designs. So in this case, it's a valid criticism. But you can't say it's true no matter what, y'know?

Usually in that case tho they check the sketch with the person so

@Bebevevevebebe20 күн бұрын
To get custom designed pieces, you have to send product designs and pay setup fees to have molds made. These setup fees can be hundreds of dollars for each element in a piece. Nobody would do that just to get samples that they may not even use. She probably got to select between a few existing elements to set her product apart slightly, but not to the extent her “from scratch” implies. Like if you went to build-a-bear and then told people it was a hand sewn bear. She also confused “drop shipping” with “white labeling” when those aren’t the same, and threw out terms like gold plated/painted like they are interchangeable. And with all the personal stories, it’s very disingenuous. Reselling pre-existing items at a higher price isn’t a conspiracy or anything, it’s how most retail works. The point where it becomes unethical is when you buy knock-off designs and tell your audience they’re paying a premium price for some bespoke artisan piece.

ugh i’ve liked her & followed her for a long time & this is so disappointing. she used to be known as a fashion influencer who would do thrift flips & made her own super cute pieces so she has a good eye & it seems to have slowed down a ton after having her baby which is understandable but she just addressed this so poorly even if her production company was misleading her which i’m not sure is the case. some kind of accountability or understanding of the concerns would’ve been so much better. i don’t know of a lot of her other controversies bc i’ve never seen it & don’t look at her comments - i just liked her fashion content & casually watch her content but this is just so lame of her to do, i don’t get how she thought this response was a good idea in the first place. i also know of & like mark & know he’s pretty knowledgeable about this stuff so if she knew anything abt him, she should’ve known this wouldn’t fly w him

10:35 ...well of course she wants to make as much money out of her viewers as possible. So she can't do affiliate links.

She’s so so so problematic. She was doxxing people from her snark Reddit….so not surprised she’s now trying to sell things from aliexpress.

I'm surprised she didn't say Aliexpress didn't copy her

It’s so lazy. There are infinite combinations of beads and chains alone. She could spend just a few hours and learn the basics of jewelry making. THEN, she could hire a manufacturer to recreate her samples. She should be embarrassed to admit she doesn’t create her own ideas.

Sometimes I think oh it would be neat to have a built in audience for my art whims. I like to design things but just dropping a collection cold turkey nowadays is just begging for a beat down. That actual grown adults are so delusional they think looking at their jewelry they own, or going on line and searching keywords, and then sending that off to the manufacturer is in any way similar to actual design process. It’s dressing up in your moms heels, bag , or whatever and pretending to be very business lady, very busy on her phone 😂😂 ugh exhausting

If you pause Marcs second response video it looks like she's giving him a haircut and I'm losing it

I haven't even started watching this video yet, I'm just seconds in but Markie if you're reading i wanted you to know i often listen to your videos when i do my laundry and cooking and i ALWAYS smile when i hear your voice. I leave my KZbin to auto play and it always finds your videos for me. Keep it up bud, love your content. I really like that you don't really take sides and you look at everything fairly, a rarity these days

Do you know how MUCH it costs to have a jewelry mold machined for you? There's no way she's dropping that kind of money to make it through the "design" process, gets the mold made so she can see a sample, and then just says "well, I don't like it, forget it"

Of course she knows regardless of having a middleman. If I'm working with someone on creative, Google lens widgets would be on my phone and I'd be checking the product in receipt immediately to see if it's already online.

Isn’t this like those small business makeup brands online that sell white label products?

If she's had jewelry for any length of time there is no link for other people to buy it It's not an existence anymore. I worked in fashion merchandising with the top jewelry companies and I can tell you that they all borrow from each other. Just about every single design that you see that has a more traditional look is it knock off of a brand called Napier. They were the first costume jewelry design company to really make it big in the United States.

Isn’t this what most shops do? Store and online? Some claim its their product but you know when your sourcing something its exactly the same product.

She's just lying, i'm guessing she just buys wholesale from Alibaba and passes them off as her merch.

Is she trying to be sneaky by claiming she's not dropshipping? You're not going to dropship a $5 item from China, and that package label from Zangzong that takes a month to ship. She'd place a bulk order to herself and ship it to her customers, and that's not dropshipping

I have that stack ring and it was $5 from a booth where everything is $5 it’s a mlm company looks like that and the star necklace came from there for sure

This gal is being deceptive in too many ways to bother listing. Truly. Everything that came out of her mouth is questionable and too many people seem to be giving her the benefit of the doubt. She’s lying over her lies. The “man” that is calling her out made perfect points, all with receipts. Even in that, she tried to get women to ride at dawn for her with that sly comment.

It’s been years since I’ve seen original jewelry. Last time was when I saw the rings made from antlers and natural stone with more geometrical ring bases and necklaces with a variety of centerpiece shapes.

Her: “We designed them from scratch” Also her: we to what I already owned and changed it a little bit… Yeah that’s not what from scratch means.
