Huge respect to you. I’ve worked with so many Tilers watched thousands of tiling videos, none of the people I’ve worked with and watched come close to you with the amount of skill you have!

Actually if you install the seat first with a slight pitch you can set the wall tiles overlapping the seat tile. Water will run off the walls onto the seat and into the pan. If the grout fails water will pour down the walls and that will be a leak hole.

I'm watching this video because of that exact scenario you mentioned, that we're dealing with.

But if you want your transition piece on the top then you have a problem dealing with the 90° corner where the wall meets the bench. If you use matching silicone caulking you eliminate the problem you're mentioning. Other than that the only way to make it look super nice is to put the transition on the horizontal side of the bench which some don't like.
@christcrucified6385
@christcrucified6385 Жыл бұрын
You can notch the transition and slide it in at the end but it's a little bit more complicated, with bullnose tile

A quick question from a rookie: Wouldn’t it be better to do the bench top first, and then the walls above it? That way, water running down the wall hits the solid tile and runs down/out. By doing the wall first, water running down the wall will hit the far less robust grout seam.

How come you did a grout line on the bench and not just a whole tile with no grout line?

I'm guessing to continue with the corner grout line, which makes sense.

For the two top triangle pieces of the bench. You can just cut one piece and then do a fake grout line with your wet saw, just cut enough to put grout in it or you can always make 2 pieces and then attach them together with leveling clips before applying any thinset and then you have one piece only, the clips also work to adjust the tile. Same for curves you can do that too, even the face of the bench as well. Clips have a lot of different uses. Yet there are a lot of oldies bitching about it.

Yes, I believe that will work and yes, leveling systems help with more superior installations and are very inexpensive. 👊

Carlos Diaz wait wait wait... why would u do a “fake” grout line?... I agree why even cutting triangle pieces in the first place... just cut it to size with no grout line at all... wouldn’t that like better & seamless?,

For the joint between the bench and the walls, it looks tighter than the leveling system joints, did you use silicone or grout?
@LandbergTileTV
@LandbergTileTV 5 жыл бұрын
We use silicone where two planes meet. We used small wedges 1/16 grout joints from the bench and the wall

I appreciate the videos. Great work! Y’all don’t seem to have any trouble tiling 12x24 with 50% brick stack designed layout. Is there a theory behind it? I wanna DIY as well, but is there a secret to keeping the lippage from showing on the porcelain tile? I have the leveling clips already. If the manufacturer recommends against it should I be warned? Thanks in advance.

I saw 18”-20” height is common, is that true? And hey bro you have the best videos, great range of topics, fun music and really great editing. I’m just a DIYer and part time handy man, but I think you have the best tiling channel! Thanks for all your contributions and you should have way more subscribers than you do! Right now I’m going through a master bath remodel and guest bath remodel. What would you say is the best tile saw for $300-400?
@LandbergTileTV
@LandbergTileTV 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is common and thanks for the kind words! It means a lot to me. Also, I would look at Ridgid or Kobalt 7 inch saws. They cut well out of the box, have a warranty/guarantee and you can easily sell them on craigslist when you are done with your project.

I love your videos but not sure on this. First , imo, the bench top should be done first, just like you would do setting the shower floor before walls. I know doing it this way is harder but the walls should cover the top. Also, imo, making side miters is just a way of covering up a mistake....if the side wall pieces were left at the proper distance away from the seat edge , both the wall tiles and seat tiles would meet without a miter...let's say you were tiling shower walls that the two side walls came off the back wall at 45 degree angles, would you miter all those cuts up the wall? No you would simply run plumb with both cuts in the corner at the proper distance away where the front edge of tile is close and the back edges a bit further away....when you miter that detail it weakens it and doesn't meet as good imo....
