Tim's advice is spot on. The majority of people don't have talent. Hit rock bottom and if you are one of the lucky lucky select few who have actual talent, you'll then have the drive to match your talent to make it.

My Uncle produced some of the Simpsons, his "master class info" was to go work as a store clerk for a product you like. You'll deal with fewer assholes in a month than he does daily.

As a fan of several authors, I've been tempted to pick up the DVDs of an author I really like thats a 6 hour sit down conversation and breakdown into his writing. I think some folks are just interested in the process, not looking to learn for copying.

No one can "teach" you anything, if it's not 1-on-1 and every day. Otherwise they can guide you a little and give you some valuable tips, and maybe evaluate you for weak spots and strengths. The rest is up to you.
