This is my first trip back to the swamp after my "gator incident." I needed to face my fears and get back in that water. This trail camera was out for 3 months and I got a ton of sweet action.

Tim, I would welcome other content, but please continue putting your trail camera content up. I really am addicted to these videos and I watch everything you put up as soon as you put it up! I have no doubt that there are many, many others who do the same. (That includes the gadgets and tools, like the electric bike.) Hang in there despite the harassment from the governmental types. It seems that harassment is their main talent.

Tim - thanks for putting yourself in these spots and making great videos. I am so glad you faced your fears and got back in the water; I think you just startled the gator and he had a knee jerk reaction to being poked by the tripod! I am glad you have good friends to help pick you up when you need it most. Those are the best kinds of friends. I would be ecstatic to see your underwater videos as I just moved from Palm Beach County to New England and the animals and nature are the part of Florida I love the most, especially aquatic animals! You have inspired me - I live more rurally now so I am going to put out a trail cam in the woods behind my house ASAP, especially since I found a giant turkey feather in the driveway yesterday and people have spotted bears all around town recently. 🐻 (PS - the transition from bear face in the camera to raccoon face in the camera was too funny and cute!)

I am glad to see that you didn't let the alligator scare keep you out of the swamp. I think you are correct in your thoughts about what happened. I was an alligator control agent for 10 years and dealt with them a lot. When the water rises like that it allows the alligators to move about more and they like to lay in wait for prey animals on game trails that are flooded. The alligator surely knew you were approaching but didn't know what you were. They will instinctively lay still when something approaches them even on dry land. It may have been hoping you would pass by or it may have been hoping for prey. When you poked it with the tripod it snapped out but probably knew instantly that it had not grabbed prey and gave a bite, shake and released. This can do a lot of damage when it is a big alligator! I always use a probe stick when walking through water with low or no visibility. I always enjoy your videos and hope you continue to enjoy your time in the woods and making them. Thanks for sharing your adventures!

Thank you, I appreciate your opinion. I think he reacted when I jumped backwards. I think I dropped the tripod when I did that and it may have fallen on him which caused the strike.

For the love of God I can't understand why they don't want any trail cameras in those places. You not hunting or poaching the wildlife you are only filming it over time while the camera is out there. Your not saying where the spots are. The state & county lands are suppose to be there for the general public to enjoy and use. Not used a private property for the folks in charge but for all the citizens here in Florida. Your films let the rest of the people enjoy being out there while in their homes. Isn't the reason for our tax moneys purchasing the lands in the first place. To let everyone have the ability of enjoying the wilderness that is being saved here in Florida. I thought the lands were refereed to as public lands.
@ShrikeZone2 жыл бұрын
I agree Chuck. However, there are some people that put trail cameras out there for hunting or poaching so I see why they need to keep the trail cameras out of there. There's also the privacy issue and you're not supposed to leave property in the parks "unattended."

@@ShrikeZone Hi Tim! This is Noelle, just checking in with you after Nicole. No damage at yours or your parents house!!? 🤞Hope you are doing well and your parents also. Have friends over in Port Charlotte, thankfully they are all ok after Ian. Some evacuated, some did not. One who stayed did quite a bit of video. Scary as H E double hockey sticks 😬 Glad their house was N/S and not E/W, probably a big reason it’s still in one piece. Well, except for some roof tiles and one window had a baseball size hole through it. At least it was a exterior window in a fully enclosed porch/FL room. Hopefully no damage on homes or body 😊 Take good care of yourself!

Third, I am amazed at how often people walk in front of your sets which are generally way off trail. Really quite interesting!! Forth, I count on your reviews for trail camera options. Been wanting cams that I could view real-time, and your mention of the Keen Ranger PT is pretty much exactly what I have been waiting for. Looking forward to your review of it!! Thank you, and stay safe.

Thank you. That guy who took a picture of my camera is a buddy of mine. He's a ghost orchid nerd like me so we are usually walking around in the same areas. I think I get the hawks and owls because there are not many little clearings in those woods so they probably hunt in the same spots where I put the cameras. The Keen Ranger is working well. I sent it up to my parent's house in NC. I get text alerts on my cell when a deer walks by and I can log into the camera anytime to view and hear what's going on in front of the camera. It's a lot of fun.

I really enjoy your Trail Camera videos. And I love seeing the Ghost Orchids. I had never even heard of those beautiful flowers until I saw them on your videos! I can see why you love the swamp. It's so beautiful down there! And if you want to capture those elusive foxes, just come on up to Ohio and hang out by our barn. You WILL see one! I have trail cams out in the yard and I've seen her walk past several times. She enjoys eating the Mulberries that fall to the ground from the neighbor's trees. I just saw her in broad daylight 2 days ago as she crossed the road. I know it's a "she" because she always has her kits in the pile of barn down the road. That barn was torn down a few years ago and I guess there's a lot of good stuff to eat in that huge pile of wood.

So I understand how you felt when the gator was right there. But enough of that, I think all the animals this time look really good.
