Brother J. That was a great reaction. It was apparent that it touched you deeply. Tim does a duet with JoDee Messina called “Bring On The Rain”. Although he’s more of a backup singer in this one, it’s melody and lyrics are very moving. It’s a song about resilience and never giving up. It was popular with the first responders and rescue workers in the rubble of the twin towers on 9/11. Since that anniversary is coming up, I thought you might want to honor those brave people. Another that deals directly with 9/11 is Allen Jackson’s “(Where WereYou) When The World Stopped Turning”. And of course Lee Greenwood’s “ God Bless The USA). You could have a nice tribute Patriot’s Day.

🤣Got me rolling out this seat talking like you didn't just do the same! These days that might be my favorite part of these songs, that tingle and deep breath before diving back in. 💯 [EDIT:] Back in '93 or so when this dropped I was like 13 and Hated this song because it would make me cry. In '03 my "same Sweet Girl" Sandra and I lost our newborn girl. Always one to put a sly smile on a sad face, Sandra joined her in '13. If I walk away from this message without shouting them out they'll be "rattling me all night" LOL!!! Hakuna Matata🤙🏼❣

I don't want to make you any sadder! But that guy dropping to his knees in the hospital corridor could have been a secret camera on my husband when the doctor came out & told us our 11-year-old daughter had a giant mass in her lung. He completely collapsed and started praying and making all kinds of deals with God, wanting to take her place. This song hits me harrrrd cause I remember that moment so intensely. (Just so you know though - she's 24 now! And doing really well!

When I came to this country from Germany, my American military husband brought me over here. I didn't speak English, but learned quickly. I fell in love with country music. Never heard it in Germany. There are so many songs I heard, where I cried my eyes out. Yes, country music tells stories. First song I heard over here, was, He stopped loving her today. Didn't understand the words, but his voice got to me. I sobbed through the whole song. When I understood what he was singing about, it got me even more. I still cry over it today. This song is another one that tares my heart out. It's so true, when boys are that young, they usually don't want anything to do with you. Oh yes, when they get older, they will do anything to keep you. Your words in this video says it all Jamal. When it comes to your wife, take me instead of her. You will go to jail for her. That's how love works. Loved your reaction.

Tim McGraw fans might appreciate this story. I worked at a Country radio station in the 90s. We jumped on the Tim McGraw song "Indian Outlaw". A Native American group called us and told us to stop playing it because it's racist. Yet we had Native listeners who loved it, everyone loved it so we kept playing it while our competitor caved and quit playing it. The record company, Curb Records if I remember correctly, was so happy we kept playing it that they rewarded us with a Tim McGraw listener appreciation concert. To promote the concert we played "Don't Take The Girl" early because it got such great reaction (as sad as it is). Our competitor didn't play "Don't Take The Girl" because they didn't want to promote our concert. So we were playing both Tim McGraw songs, the hottest most requested songs in country music that year while our competitor played neither. That ratings period we became the #1 Country radio station in Las Vegas. That was so much fun!

I'm a Philly girl. I loved how Tim sprinkled a little bit of Tugger's ashes on the mound when he sang The Star Spangled Banner, during the 2008 Season. He'd said since Tug was such a big part of Veterans Stadium and The Phillies, he figured Tug could be in a little part of Citizens Bank Park. He didn't ask, he just did it. Because it's better to ask forgiveness after, then ask and be told no. NOBODY had a problem with what Tim did. I think he even said it was the only reason he said yes to singing, because he doesn't really do The Banner at Baseball openings anymore.

I'm a diehard metalhead...you know, all the music with the "tough guy" image and all that....but there's those occasional songs. One of those for me is Bette Midler's "The Rose". I have no idea why. Oh man, I haven't heard this song in nearly a thousand years!...feels like it, anyway. I had forgotten everything except the chorus....pleeeeeeeease, don't take the girl. Listening to it just now, I remember that it turned me into a blubbering mess back then. Nothing has changed. That song certainly grabs ya by the heart, don't it? Whew!😢 Country song writers know how to go straight for the feelings. Thanks for dusting this one off, Jamel.❤

I work as a nurse in the newborn ICU, I’ve seen this too many times. And the trauma a man goes through when he loses the love of his life during childbirth is heartbreaking. But their strength and courage they exude leaves me in awe. Especially when they realize they will be raising their baby without her. I wish I will never see it again, but life has a way of kicking your butt. I love how much you love your wife. You seem like a great guy!

Tim McGraw's song ''Live Like You Were Dying', tells a wonderful story of living with bad news. My husband survived his first round of cancer and we took a vacation to Mexico and were about to go horseback riding when he spotted a bull in a pen close to the horses. He said should I ride it, I smiled and he got on his horse and away we went to ride in ocean. Five years later when cancer showed up again and we knew his time was limited I told him he had rode the bull. No regrets

Yes I wholly agree, some of these country songs are *deep*. This song gets me to crying every time. When it came out, I was on the bus going home from work. I was using my Walkman (remember those? Lol), heard this song for the first time, and it hit hard. Eyes watering, snot building, I had to struggle to keep from crying. It really grabs at your heart!

If you want Vince Gill to break you, "Pretty Little Adriana". He wrote it in dedication to Adriana Dickerson, a twelve year old girl murdered due to gang crossfire in a store parking lot. He tried to write it from the perspective of her parents.

Haven't heard this song in years, and yet i found myself choked up and teary eyed. I remember this song came out right as i got married. I recall wanting my own family for years and then getting this sing made me wonder if, when my wife became pregnant, would the same possible thing happen to her. Thankfully there were never any complications with any of her 3 pregnancies... Although the 2nd pregnancy we almost lost our son. Though we have been divorced 10 years and remain friends, the song always reminds me of her and the family i always wanted, especially my firstborn son.

This song took a different meaning after my niece was delivered at 24 weeks. We aren’t allowed to visit because of Covid but this song has become her song. We’ve been living and dying by her updates. Her brothers have taken the lead to asking our family to pray for her and their mom who has been fighting for so long to keep her daughter safe as well as her other children. Every time I hear this song I’m thinking of my little Evie who is now 3 weeks old and of of my little brothers family and what they are going though right now.

I second the Tom T. Hall suggestion ("Old Dogs, Children and Watermelon Wine" is a great starting point) and recommend a more upbeat country favorite from the mid-90s: John Michael Montgomery's "Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)".
