@intolead No they're not! I've seen Tim many times and - me being now 59 - I pretty much know Tommy's BOOK - and I've NEVER heard Tim do a Tommy joke. I think this has started because of a West End show on Tommy that used some of Tim's jokes - but I never saw it, so I don't know. But I DO know Tim's material is unique to HIM. In Britain, by the Eighties, a comic on TV got NOWHERE if he pinched material - and if he pinched it from someone as famous as TOMMY, he'd have been CASTRATED!

That wasn't a Tommy Cooper joke. So many idiots. That is like me making a joke about Germany and someone saying "A comedian said that in 1981!" Which is impossible as Germany didn't exist then. Same goes for this. The figure was 1 in 8. Many idiots believe that it's Tommy's joke for various reasons. I cba explaining.

@mrjoeington some of these jokes *were* originally by Tommy Cooper - he died in 1984 when Tim Vine was 17! Get your facts right. Many (so called) modern jokes and comic lines were originally by Tommy Cooper and Spike Milligan.

How can Tommy have told it when the figure was 1 in 8 and wasn't down to 1 in 5 until the mid 80s. It is now that 18.1% of the world is Chinese as they have tried to slow down their birthrate. Tim Vine has proof he was the first. I have yet to see ANY proof that Tommy invented the joke. This is why I hate old people. They try to take credit for good things and then try to make everyone forget how much they have fucked up the world.

No. He didn't. That is the myth. But it's a dumb myth as when Tommy is meant to have said it the figure was 1 in 8 were Chinese. I love how you say "it's a fact" and yet Tim is credited by most respectable websites as the creator and the only places saying Tommy invented it show no proof.
