This Cry me a river thing is aggravating because Scott Storch and Timbaland had a huge falling out over the credits that may have (i can’t recall) gone to court a long time ago. In the clip, Tye Tribbette (who is credited as a performer) says he played on the record, not that he wrote the melody. He probably did the choir arrangement, which if so was a missed opportunity on his part, but this whole thing just seems like information out of context and conclusions jumped. And in just a practical sense, at the time of recording scott storch was a big, but not massive name where if it could be justified to not list him in the credits on a guaranteed money maker AAA project, Timbo would have taken it

VCV Rack the software itself is free, the PRO just adds a few modules that aren't that necessary to the core function anyway, you can still also just buy the upgrade outright. People are overreacting for sure. It's very similar to Vital's business model (free entry, paid or sub pro version) lol

There are new ones all the time so for now its actually a good deal. What I worry about is that this will encourage them to take previously free modules and make them only available in the subscription. This also makes me believe they are nearing a release of a new version which will make owners of the current pro version have to subscribe to get what they have always had in the current version. He is a purist so respects people who also share deep knowledge in music theory and people who can actual play an instrument. He doesnt consider modern chart toping music creative because they are repetitive/monotonous and use basic chord progressions. Its a dated way of thinking because modern productions are vastly dependent on sound design and creatively flipping samples also making that BASS/808 thump. As long as it sounds good then nothing else really matters from a listener perspective. Old musicians like making music with raw ingredients where as modern producers like to cook with premade ingredients. Still as a modern producer its good to continuously learn music theory and Rick is one of the best at that.
