My dad RIP was a contractor owned his own business did construction for over 50 years in various different fields We lived in Big Bear Lake California which is in Southern California Big Bears a lot like Mammoth The heavy timber you're putting up it seems like a lot of heavy wood for a small home and the balconies wow You could get a nosebleed on those things you can't be scared of heights when you walk out there to sit on your deck that's for sure

The heavy timber construction is really cool. Do you have a rendering of what the home will look like when finished? Enjoy the holiday! Be safe.

I don't know whether you noticed but that big tree to the right of the crane looking towards the house is dead. Sure hate to see that come down on all your work.

I've built trusses like that. We set up a table on the subfloor and in the front yard. Pre assembled and brought in the crane for erection. He was out of there by noon. Not a three day crane job. That's gonna cost a fortune. Hard to watch. Plus it's just sitting on the subfloor, can't see how the roof load will be transferred to the foundation without damage to the subfloor.

No small project. By the time they're done this house will survive a nuclear bomb drop. Not being able to see the plans, I'm really curious what's holding up those beams from the first floor. That's a LOT of weight, and will be even heavier when they get a good pile of snow on the roof. I wouldn't wanna pay that bill either; this is no cheap project.
