How do they get the aluminum flashing to stay up? It looks like they sandwiched it between the joist and deck boards, but aluminum flashing it not compatible with pressure treated lumber. Any suggestions? Is it really needed?

Would it be appropriate to use liquid nails to attach to composite decking, and avoid contact with the joist?

I have found that it fits okay in our installation. It is tight, and the nails for the hangers need to be fully driven, but there's enough give in the "F" bracket that it fits.

Having set a few more, I'd add that you need to cut the L bracket a bit shorter than thie recommended 1/4" less than joist gsp when dealing with joist-hangers
