I love what he said about the Kouki vs Zenki tail lights.....He's so correct. Save the money for other upgrades rather than the tail lights.

Don’t let anyone tell you that 400kw isn’t a lot. When you were stalling so much I thought it would be 300hp at most, 530hp is a lot.

As an owner and big fan of the SW20 chassis, this is probably my favorite heavily/aggressively modded MR2 that I've seen thus far. I love how performance/track focused it is while looking absolutely awesome. So many cool performance mods here, and simultaneously the first time I've liked the look of an MR2 with 18s in the rear AND the front, to my knowledge. I'm not a big fan of the really crazy stanced out MR2s... if there's one single thing these cars deserve, it's to have handling improved, not worsened. People can certainly do as they please with their own car, but... I like to see the direction you've taken this one for track use. I also see that Wilhelm Raceworks geometry kit on the rear suspension too, I assume that's practically indispensable for building a car like this! Again, really cool stuff, I'm subscribing.

Very good probably one of your best video's so far, I'd be interested in knowing what engine modifications you've done, I'm missing my MR2 after gearbox blew a week before moving 500miles 4 months ago so unfortunately had to scrap her :'( but still have the 3sgte engine I bought to build so it will possibly go in another MR2 aw11 or sw20 or maybe something much older like Reliant Scimitar.

@@robertslender9974 Being in the UK I'd prefer something a little more unusual and having worked on some very expensive classics (Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa, Ford GT40 & Jaguar C type for example) I like the looks of the old SE5a, besides if your going to put a 3sgte in a british classic why not use a v6 Scimitar SE5a it's unusual and less likely to have rusted away (being mainly fibreglass) side bonus it's much cheaper to buy. Or maybe I'll just build my own mid engined LoCost.

Hey mate, love the work on the old girl. 3 questions if you have time for it. The bonnet, could you do a short video just on that alone? I am in love with it. The MIrror airo shields, where did you get those or did you fabricate them yourself? Last but most important. Are you running a pre 93 rear or post? I have driven both and I like the feel of the pre 93 myself but with different levels of work done to the back end of the cars I can't be sure. I am guessing with her being a track setup it will different to what you want on the street anyway.
@mr2australia3 жыл бұрын
The bonnet is nothing special. It is carbon fibre with the inner layer removed and big holes cut in it. That's all 🙂. The side mirrors are made by Bomex. I have a post 93 setup.
@EZ-D-FIANT2 жыл бұрын
It looks like a border racing copy bonnet he's modified to run rad relief, I run bomex stuff these old jdm one make racing teams did solid development I love that stuff, I currently run a veilside front, celica lights and bomex bonnet, all ducted and modified using laser scanners and cfd design, (I'm an aero nut). I'm currently designing an aero louver set for the rear buttresses which will work with my custom intakes and flat floor and would change the engine main air pick up from under to over so would probably work well with mr2 Australia's set up, if he's interested I might email him some specs (to get his own plugs made and produce there himself, I'm uk) in exchange for a shout out sticker if he uses the part in racing....😉

I've got a 91 with kouki.....😬 I did buy a bare tin top chassis and build mine from ground up tho, so I've got things like skyline brakes (I use supra disks too, with ally 4 pot calipers, your half way there lol), st204 (gt4, rev 3 3sgte)engine, celica headlights, scooby seats, mostly carbon and fibreglass panels I made myself from generic and original spliced moulds, its really a frankenstein I just used what I could find and made the rest myself haha! Currently developing an aero kit and wide body quarters via cfd (and thinking about an electric front drive 😶), I just can't stop building maybe one day I'll even drive it.....😅

@@mr2australia with a 3rd gen stock block? Honestly that's very impressive if so, I always believed I was running the max 345bhp a 3rd gen block can take so im really shocked and interested tbh? 👌
@EZ-D-FIANT2 жыл бұрын
@@mr2australia this is really playing on my mind, I'm actually in the process of sourcing parts to do a 5s block because I want 500bhp, do you jave a 5th gen block by chance, I've heard they are also very tough, I know you use your engines if you've got those power levels from a stock block and its held, sorry I'm going on but honestly this could be a game changer for me I daily a deuce aswell as my project and considered a k swap purely because I didn't think the 3s block had the potential, I hate the idea of a k swap, I'm rambling, to simplify please just confirm what block your using? 😁 I'm gonna search your channel see if you've got a build vid containing the info still but if you've taken the time to read this I'd love to know.

this might have been answered before, but why the development of the air to air intercooler setup instead of a water to air setup?
@ADMaw113 жыл бұрын
....looks like maybe just for weight saving
@mr2australia3 жыл бұрын
Weight was one reason and the other was that I was getting heat soak in the water to air. I'm now using air to air with water spray. For important events, I can put some alcohol in the water (though keeping it below the flash point) and also water ice. This is super easy to do at the track.

Your regulations won't even allow you to retain the factory under-panels?

They do, though I tried a set of OEM panels at Mount Panorama and the air got between them and the floor and they ripped off. I presume that they weren't designed to work at 265Kph 🙂

Thanks for sharing all your development and experience with your MR2. The biggest rear suspension problem is, as I understand it, excessive toe change from full droop (toe out) to full compression (toe in). Most cars have some change, but the MR2's is excessive. So imagine, there you are mid-corner going a little too hard , lift off, and the outside rear goes from loaded up toe-in toward rising toe-out as the outside rear unloads. It's all relative. It doesn't even have to go from toe-in to toe-out. It is enough of a problem that for any vertical movement in the rear suspension you experience a large toe change. A large toe change for a small vertical movement is going to cause the rear end to get loose in a bad way. Wilhelmraceworks , a one man shop here in the USA, has analyzed the problem and addressed it. Read all of this: wilhelmraceworks.com/suspension-analysis Pay close attention to the graph titled "91 Rear Toe vs. Bump/Droop" Ideally you want a curve that plots as close to vertical as possible. He has offered a correction kit for a couple of years that folks rave about, and is currently prototyping an upper A-arm conversion kit. If nothing else, soak your head in his blog posts and any links in his product offerings that mention "analysis". He's got a pretty comprehensive understanding of all the suspension geometry issues and how to address them. Cheers, Brian

Thanks Brian. I have had Alex's kit for a few years already and bought Eric Hux's tubular suspension arms around a year ago. Each of them made a significant difference.
