Hi Bruce, great to hear from you and your determination to stay on top. I am 73 and have recently decided to give up on pill pushing doctors for every new ailment I turn up with, and changed my diet to exclude sugar, carbs and all processed food. Voila, my snoring and sleep apnea gone, lower extremity edema gone, blood pressure controlled with less meds, and much needed weight loss is under way. Maybe food for thought.... er.... sorry, pun unavoidable. Cheers.

Imagine if we were given good dietary advice in school or by the mainstream media... I also cut carbs/sugars, started fasting and eating more meats + more veggies, less seed oils and sleep problems solved themselves, same with itchy skin, dandruff, occasional (severe) headaches and I also lost weight. But if I look at the recommendations and what the government representatives and media say, then I am eating a horrible and environmentally unsound diet now.

That's a great move. I have a low-carb diet and mainly stick to chicken, yogurt, nuts and steamed veges these days. I've put on a few pounds over winter though due to the lack of walking but I expect that to come off in the coming months. Highly processed food is pretty hard on your body so I avoid it.

@@xjet Our brain reacts to cold weather (or conditions) and makes us eat more, in order to add fat and insulation. That's why swimming is the best exercise but the cold pools (rather than tepid pools), makes the brain want to eat more. Sigh. Millions of years of evolution can't be denied. Them's the fats, oh, I mean facts. 😁

Hi Bruce, glad to see you are still in the race. I'll keep my patronage up until the cows come home, I hope some of those are not contributing will start as a thank you for all of the work you have done for the hobby. As to keeping your skills up I have spent most of the winter in Australia using the TRYP sim. I find it very realistic, so far I've clocked up 250 Hrs. My concentration has improved, I’m 73, and my Autism symptoms eased considerably. I wait in anticipation for the consequences of the councils dictates! Please keep posting, I for one will see past your symptoms and be grateful for the contents.

And a lot of the councils put the garbage in the wrong places. Now with more flooding events, some dumps are being exposed. And though we asked our council to set up 'pre-sorting plants' for local rubbish (which would give more employment and reduce tonnes going to landfill), they chose the 'cheaper' option and it all goes to the tip. Very few people bother to re-cycle properly and very little of the re-cycling is used. So it's a lose lose situation.

Totally agree. As long as the speech had no hate and he did not behave aggressively, he should have 'freedom of speech' to put his views across. If he makes his views about what he thinks of council in his speech, he is entitled to say so. If the council don't 'like' what he says, that does not give them any right what-so-ever, to cut him off mid presentation. The mayor is using 'stand over' tactics, which is a form of bullying. He is using his position of power to 'shut down' that mans right to have his say. Another form of bullying, on the verge of dictatorship. The next election should have him voted out. Unfortunately, I can't have a say, as this is not in my area. Fortunately, our mayor is far more professional and listens to the peoples' points of view. (Except for sorting our rubbish, proposal.) Rate payers can't win every fight. Maybe next time.

As long as I can, I started taking Oxcycodon when I broke my back, and it's been a nightmare to quit. Marijuana grows wild and well here in New Zealand. The Airforce was used for years to spot and collect cannabis plants up in the hills. They used to sling it under the helicopters in nets. That stopped when the next year a long line of freshly growing cannabis seedlings sprouted along the flightpath of the helicopter that was transporting the crop....the downbeat of the rotors shook all the seeds free....😁😁

Glad to hear & see you are ok. My best buddy of 45 years had Parkinsons. Stay away from the drugs as long as you can. He took the meds for about 10 years and the meds just weren’t anymore. Post-viral fatigue symptom. Horrid stuff. I've had episodes for the past 20 years with chronic fatigue. Learn to recognize the onset and manage your exposure to triggers and best ways to recovery. All quite vague, I know, but all disease is individual.

Yeah, I've been following events in the UK. It's shocking to compare the mainstream news media's portrayal of events with the various livestreams that present a much different (raw and unedited) version of things. The BBC referred to the Downing Street event as a "riot" but referred to a left-wing counter protest (where there was violence) as a "rally". It's easy to see why governments are so afraid of social media and citizen journalists now.

Everyone most strongly condemns the rioters (self protection) triggered by non indiginous murder of 3 primary school aged girls and panicing Starmer has pushed all the wrong buttons. As I may have said earlier, drone laws are now just part of the unlucky dip bran tub. I have no more idea what comes next than anyone else but the USA election s going to swing it one way or the other.

Man the issues you've had over the years with the government is just insane. I've had Parkinsons for about 8 years now, it can cause so many different problems beyond tremors. Sinamet is nasty stuff, eventually it would stop working anyway. I drink quite a bit of coffee and like you find the more active I am the less tremors I have. In the winter I use an exercise bike, works pretty good for me. You're on the right track, best wishes !

Yeah, tremors are the least of the problems. I've had some real issues with dystonia over the winter which is both painful and inconvenient (pretty hard to do anything when one of your hands twists into a knot). Still, they say "what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger" and I have to admit that I'm pretty strong for an old guy :-)

I spent 2 years walking after an accident. The Drs told me I would never walk again but I dressed warmly and could get out in the -20 degree F weather and proved them all wrong. I never went out while it was snowing but if it was not too deep when it stopped, out the door I went. If you need to walk, you can find a way. Good luck sir.

Hey man. Regarding the lack of activity during winter; I purchased a "water rower". Basically a water rowing machine but one that uses the resistance of water to generate a load. It is zero impact and you just get on it and go at your own pace. It then stands up and only occupies a 50mm square footprint. Good for us... ahem.... Older gentlemen.

And if your Parkinson's is anything like my MS, the last thing you need is a load of unwanted stress. I myself was diagnosed with MS nearly 20 years ago, and i can relate to how bad winter time can be when it comes to keeping everything under control. I suppose there are thousands of people who have learned a lot from you just watching one or two videos. What’s with indoor resistance training? Bike or a walking machine? I prefer also 100% outdoors. Also here in Germany if it’s cold or if there is snow. But rain I don’t like either. For walking with proper clothes maybe yes. I've been diagnosed with parkinsons for17yrs now. they tried me on simonet and it was too much. then they started me on ragasaline to keep the dopamine in my system longer , and ropineral to antagonist the neuro transmitters to go wide open throttle (only way i can explain it). I also excersize as much as i can ,bike riding and resistance .

That guy in the video I helped made the point that the council works for *us* -- you saw the result of such "arrogance" on his part. They don't like to be reminded of that. Apparently we should "respect" them (not criticise them) according to an official report on the incident.

@@xjet I was taught that respect has to be earned not demanded - but that is no doubt an old fashioned idea. Perhaps we should all 'demand' respect although, like inflation, it would devalue/debase its meaning. IMO it would seem that the council are oblivious to, or just bloody minded to, the disrepect they are actually earning. Do you not have a member of parliament (or whatever the NZ equivalent is) who might help fight your case? Obviously this doesn't work if your MP is in bed with, or is as corrupt as, your local politicians... Their behaviour stinks, to an untrained observer like me, of malfeasance - is that not a recognised and a (rather) serious offence in NZ law? I am not a lawyer though so what do I know? I wish you good luck and justice in your fight with the council and biology. If only the former were more rational and responsive to the benefits of exercise and good coffee!

Bruce, btw a few years ago. A UK tv program showed a young women with Parkinson's. The Chinese women designed a gadget that resembled a watch. The girl was asked to write her name and it was just scribbles. The designer puts the watch on her & says "Ok write your name now 😮" 🥰I swear her hand steadied & she wrote her name perfectly, beween the pages lines😮. They both broke down crying. The girl loved painting etc & couldn't do that for many years. It turns out the watch type wrist band vibrated at a certain frequency and that it distracted & stopped the Parkinson's tremors. It obviously changed her life. It was a BBC program btw. Try to find it & check it out ❤

Yes, I remember seeing that. One of the problems with Parkinson's is that it's actually a pretty big umbrella and everyone is affected in different ways -- which means that different treatments also have widely varying effects. What works for me might not work for others and v/v.
