@@Hfrizk Wolverine was never a character the X-Men wanted, aside from Xavier. A big part of Wolverines lore with X-Men is that when he first shows up everyone is reluctant of him and most wanted him out of the X-mansion. His origin story is full of nothing but violence he committed unknowingly and knowingly and he was even a brainwashed murderer for a time. People who knew of The Wolverine feared him. Basically cause of his background he wasn't a hero to look up, and people were always skeptical of him when they met him. It doesn't help that Logan also made things worse by never fully integrating himself into the X-Men something Cyclops lamented and despised about him. He constantly disagreed, had no problems disobeying orders, he didn't consider himself an X-Men, nor did he call himself one to the point of making it known by telling everyone he wasn't one of them. Heck several times he just downright quit the team and went off on his on. He always had his heart in the right place he was just too full of anger, scars, confusion, stubborness and pain, That's a big part of his lore, the fact that initially Wolverine and X-Men had alot of turmoil, almost everyone doubted his intentions and him as a hero. But that what made Logan and the X-Men interesting, Professor X believed in him, saw alot of the truth ppl dont know about Logan, and Logan needed to heal from his past(or lack of) in order to finally see himself apart of a team. Ofcourse Logan eventually has his moment and finally sees himself as an X-Men and he becomes the hero we know him to be. This scene is one of those fanservice scenes, but its so well done and actually organic to the story that its very welcomed. Laura here is specifically talking about this version of Wolverine, (who is way farther version from the Wolverine we've come to known), who is the worst version of Wolverine to have ever existed because he's the first iteration to essentially let humans win the war against mutants, when he failed to save the X-Men from a planned invasion, because he's a drunk who never got to the point of healing our version of Logan did and he was out getting hammered and moping. Worse is that instead of revenge he just coward and become a literal alcoholic. Thats where the fanservice comes in, Fox and filmmakers involved did not want the X-Men in their costumes, while over time this become more lenient as some have either gotten colors or actual costumes like Psylocke, but Wolverine was the number one not to touch, apparently out of all of the costumes his was the least they wanted in film. Heck they X-Men even got proper costumes in one film but what amounted to essentially a cameo, Wolverine the closest was just a tease of the actual suit that went no where, because again Fox and issues with their costumes. So its long become known fans wanted the suits, but Fox refused as if embarrassed by the suits. Which this lore they have neatly woven into this scene in the form of subtext. So in this scene in order for Laura to comment on "he was never the right guy" she would have to break the reality of the film and know about Logans entire history with the X-Men franchise, something only us and the writers would know, but like I said they organically found a way to make it make sense cause Laura has been living in the void which exists outside of time which essentially mean all time runs through it and runs at the same time, so shes most likely aware of the spectrum of the multiversus and ppls many encounters with Wolverines. Which in the film a few characters are aware of. Again there's alot of fanservice in this scene. Logan finally wearing the suit is actually a plot point in the film, neatly integrating Hughs lack of history with suit and making it actual lore for the character. This Logan hated the suit and never wanted to wear it, it embarrassed him(mimicking Fox) he only now wears it all time because its all he has left of him family. So when he finally dons the suits, he talks about finally being proud of wearing the suit(as if its Hugh Jackman is the one saying it) and as if Ryan and the Writers are saying "THATS RIGHT FINALLY!" "AND IT LOOKS GOOD!" for the fans. There's also Wades comment about Logan being THEE WOLVERINE, because for a long time it has been known the X-Men will be recast and rebooted as an MCU version. Hugh quit, and fans had been campaigning if they recast Logan it should be comic accurate with height. So we almost never got this version of Logan in the suit, so its as if Ryan is personally breaking the fourth wall and saying he's the only Wolverine in his eyes. Its all very touching, this film is one big wish fulfillment film for both the fans and filmmakers who made the movie alike. No wonder it made a billion.

I love how the walkway they stand on is in the shape of an X. In this moment they both finally became X-Men. Not just Logan, Wade too. This scene has gotten me emotional on both watches, the juxtaposition of the emotional flashbacks and quotes with the choir singing. I love this film, definitely my favourite of 2024.

For the longest time I couldn't understand why they used this song, but now I think I get it. This movie was critiqued about being weakly written, but I think they did a better job than one might think at first watch. They had to combine “matter” (Wade) and “anti-matter” (Logan) to save that universe. My kryptonite is actually 80s/90s action heros, villains, and video game characters which on rest, will never be satisfied. Now that my ner)d credentials are established despite being a decent looking (nohugh or Ryan but I'm doing alright( over 6'/+200lbs construction worker). This movie is easily pre endgame quality. Took all my kids on 2 occasions after it was date night for the old lady and I. The point being I can't believe a b class mavel hero became so world class and broke the boundaries of entertainment, licensing, and nerd hearts alike. Last installment is legendary.
