Yes he was. I watched an interview with Reese, and she discussed how she had to learn how to sing, and play an instrument. She earned that paycheck. This is probably the only movie I like with her in it. I like signs with Joaquin. A lot of ppl probably don't know it, but he was in the movie Parenthood, with Steve Martin. He was the angry kid who smashed up his dad's office with a hammer.

I have seen Walk the Line a few times and enjoyed it. Joaquin Phoenix is great as Johnny Cash and should have won the Oscar. Reese Witherspoon is also great as June Carter and she earned that Oscar. They captured the essence of Johnny and June.

Wow!! You wrote exactly what I was going to say. I have loved Johnny and June for many years. They were truly soulmates. I was so happy for Reese’s winning the Oscar but so disappointed that Joaquin didn’t. They both did such an all around amazing job. Joaquin was robbed!! They should let the fans pick. We are the ones who buy tickets to see the movie, we then rent it to watch it. Then, finally we purchase the movie. I have watched “Walk the Line” over and over. Best movie ever!!

This movie is right up there in my top 1! I LOVED Joaquin Phoenix in this movie not merely because he sang all of Johnny Cash’s music better than Cash ever did, but his acting was on another level altogether, surpassing Tom Hanks in Forest Gump et al. It was travesty of justice Phoenix did not win an Oscar. As for Reese Witherspoon, she was delightful beyond words. This was one of the best love stories I have ever seenl
