@Elaine Paine Oh, my goodness, this is an awesome memory and memento! Do you have children it can be passed down to, or did you make them their own cutters? If no children, maybe nieces or nephews? My father passed whenever I was 16 a few months after my first child. I love being able to tell my kids, nieces and nephews stories about him, so they know as much about him as possible, because he was such a special man. A tomato can biscuit cutter would be a perfect item to be able to give to next generations with stories of you, your Mom and Grandmother attached, and a biscuit or scone, or other recipe, to pass down to everyone, male and female, either as Christmas gifts, b-day gifts, or a gift when they make their first batch of biscuits!!! Much love and many blessings to you Ma'am!! Suzanne

My grandmother has a tiny knife that she has peeled tomatos for canning and eating as well as cracking crabs. I asked her for that knife in her will. She laughed and said she wants to give me more than that. I told her the knife would do!

@@laurenj.5312 IKR!?! It's the little things that are worth so much more than money could ever try to meet. Sure, I'm not stupid an education would be great, or a house paid off, but none of that has a piece of them you know they touched or looked at every day!!

Thanks, Bev, for the tip to dip your cold butter in flour as you grate it. It certainly cut down on the sticking to the grater. Best to you and Howie.

I was told by my grandmother twisting as you cut out your biscuits doesn't allow them to evenly rise. What is the difference between a scone and tea biscuit? They looked delicious 😋 thanks for sharing Bev. Much love from Thunder Bay Ontario

I think the biscuits don’t have sugar
@monkeeblue2 жыл бұрын
Pretty much the same thing (Tea Biscuits are just a biscuit with added sugar and usually added dried fruit for those who haven't heard of them). Tea Biscuits are a bit less dense than scones in my experience with the recipes I've used. There really isn't that much of a difference but scones will use fresh or frozen fruit in them where the Tea Biscuits it's usually raisins or currants.

Ok, Bev Just before watching your video, I checked the pronunciation of scone. It seems the queen’s English pronounces it scon just as you say. The way I always say it, scone, is not as posh. Lol Guess it’s now scon for me!
@lifewiththevolfies2 жыл бұрын
LOL! Thank you! I have been taken to task before for my pronunciation..my family are UK immigrants!

@@lifewiththevolfies That musta been me! Lol I recall being on a live chat with you last year and hearing you say “scon.” “I” questioned you why and you said, “I dunno. I just always say it that way” which I thought was odd. So, that is what prompted me to check it out. My family was from Italy and we don’t have scones but I’ve eaten them and I LOVE them! Good food is good food no matter who makes it. 🤷♀️

I put them in the freezer on the cookie sheet to freeze first and then bag or bin them up .that way they don't squash down while freezing.
