When I went all glass - G3X, GTN 750xi, GTN 650xi, G5, iPad - it took me 20-25 hours before feeling comfortable enough to shoot low IFR approaches by myself. There were so many places to look for the same information. It takes a while to figure out where YOU need to look for the information you need, but you’ll figure it out.

Thanks, yeah, I'm definitely not ready to shoot approaches in IMC yet. I've gone through some clouds on a climbout to get up on top, but that's about all I'm ready to do for now. I imagine it'll take another 10 hours or so of deliberate practice flying before I'll want to shoot an approach to near minimums.

Nice looking panel. Looks like you are very comfortable using the new gear to this point. Looking forward to the OSH videos. Take care and blue skies and tailwinds always.

Thanks very much, Reale! The Garmin gear is so intuitive, it really didn't take much to get comfortable with it.

@WingsOverTO Agreed. I have been a long time user of Garmin products myself and there tech support is excellent too.

I had a similar experience moving from a 6 pack to an all glass panel. It took me a long time to get used to a digital air speed presentation. BTW - you still need that snubber on your manifold line of your JPI. 😊

@@Marauder92V Thank you! I was trying to remember what that was called yesterday. Unfortunately I didn't remember in time to have it done during my annual last week. Next time it goes in, I guess!

That's a great place for the iPad.

Yeah I like it overall. The only thing I don't like is because I'm right-handed I have to reach over the yoke to write on it. It's taking some getting used to.

Nice looking panel. I am looking at doing so.ething similar. I am in Waterloo, curious to where you had the work done.

Thanks Ian. I used eAvionics here at CYOO. I’ve been pretty happy with the work overall.

Did you figure out why it pitches up? I have had the same problem with the same avionics , i believe it’s due to not having the approach activated before the FAF and/or not intercepting GP within a certain deviation.

Hey there. That’s interesting. We only tried it twice during the test flight and I have tried it since, but both times we intercepted the glide slope well before the FAF, on centerline laterally, and from below. So I don’t think that was it. But now I want to go up and try it just to confirm. So with yours, as long as you capture the GS before the FAF and on center, it works every time? I’m waiting for a couple of final parts that the avionics shop still needs to install to finish up the panel, and I plan to have them do some diagnostics then to try to figure out why it’s not following the glide slope properly.
