Awesome cotton harvest Conley, you didn't get what you wanted but you got enough to make some money to pay bills and keep going and plant the next crops. Congratulations !

Great view of Guadalupe Peak and El Capitan @ 12:09. I wait all year for you to pick these fields so I can see the mountains in the park! I just drove past the National Park on my way from Carlsbad to Van Horn. I had driven from Pecos to Carlsbad 2 weeks earlier and I wanted to see some mountains this time. I've got some photos of the mountains reflected in a full playa from several years ago. Do you get your water from the same aquifer as Dell City? I don't know how far south it extends from Dell City. I could see the Cornudos when you were facing west and it's cool that you could see the recharge area for your water.

I do believe it is the same aquifer. The view makes working out here worth it

I know nothing about cotton Conley, but that looks visibly pretty thick cotton on the plant compared to other videos elsewhere. Its amazing what good management and irrigation can do in a desert. What sort of % loss do you think you are getting with cotton left in the boll on the plant? Because the white cotton stands out on the brown plant, its probably less than it looks.
@conleybanman19 күн бұрын
Yea that’s what everyone says. Everyone is always concerned about all the cotton we’re leaving behind but it less than 1%. It’s about the same amount of loss as you’d see behind a corn combine. Price wise it’s not worth going over a second time plus the cotton left behind is usually shorter fibers and they pay a lot less for that

How do you get the cotton strippers out to the West of Guadalupe Peak from where you live?
@conleybanman19 күн бұрын
We haul the header with our implement trailer and the stripper with our semi and lowboy

We tie our remote to the guard rail on the catwalk so don’t have to climb done to unfold and such. Some good looking cotton. The past 2 years we’ve been a bale or less on all of ours because of lack of rain.
@conleybanman17 күн бұрын
Yea I tried that but then found myself using it down there more often then on the catwalk
