El said he wrote this song, "Time Will Reveal" (by himself), when he was 16 years old and was not going to record it. However, his brother Chico encouraged him to release it. Needless to say, it was a 'hit' that remains a classic! "All This Love" was the other song that El said he also wrote by himself. Others were co-written with his siblings. Plus, even though they play instruments,they've never taken lessons. They play by ear! That's real true God given talent!

El has a very beautiful falsetto but I have to disagree with best ever. His late brother Bobby was the best in my opinion. They both had / have beautiful lower range as well. Bobby had a voice that bring tears .El sounds so much like Bobby in this song but still not as good as Bobby. BTW , El is a man so he can't have a real falsetto because a falsetto is a male voice imitation of a female voice. So El being the handsome gentleman that he is will never be a real falsetto. You get an A for your creative effort though.

Bobby never had a solo career, El did (a very long career of many decades), and El composed many great songs, the best songs of the R&B genre, Bobby only had like 3 hit songs with Switch and that's it. El is the music genius in the DeBarge family. El is a better singer. El is DeBarge. Switch sucks compared to DeBarge.

The brother who died was Bobby, who is not shown here. He didn't join Debarge until Bunny and El left, he was also the lead singer of the band Switch in the 70's. He died from complications of aids in '95.

I saw El De Barge in Philly LIVE! Truly so gifted on the keyboards. His voice is like GOLD in natural or falsetto when he does LOVE ME IN A SPECIAL WAY. OMG!!! I hope he gets family members back together and does a tour. I would SO be there. Thank God he is in recovery & back on track. Getting busted was the best thing to happen to him.
