Russell is the nicest guy ever. I casually met him in Milan in a downtown backstreet...he was having a beer sitting down in the summer sun wearing a white wife-beater😎 No bodyguards, available for everyone to take a photo. " Gladiator " still brings me to tears. I hope this collection sells very well. Cheers from Italy mate🍻

Russell Crowe is not always the nicest guy. The trouble that he was referring to while he was in NYC was probably connected to the time he assaulted a hotel worker for no apparent reason. I think he threw a telephone at him and injured him, and had to go to court over it.

Even though many of the watches are not the most sought out ones or the most eye popping I really enjoyed Russell talk about his stories behind them. Since a big part of the celebrity scene just gets watches left and right without knowing anything about the watch itself or has any REAL specific meaning to them besides that it makes them ''looking sharp''.

Its better, but not by a lot. I skipped after the third watch they showed. Its basically :"I bought this because I can". Which is fine, but adding some irrelevant story to it does not make those watches any more interesting.

As a Watch Collector myself I think that it must have hurt him to sell his Watch Collection. In his The Art of Divorce or The Art of War, each watch represented a period of "time" in his life that cannot be replaced. Russell's ex wife obviously had no feelings about what each watch meant to Russell or did she out of spite? I also thought it was sad Russell had a collection of items from all his movies he had to put up for auction in his "Art of Divorce" as well. PRE NUP NEXT TIME RUSSELL!

Most of these comments are absolutely ridiculous. Just because he doesn’t have a collection of watches you armchair horological experts approve of his collection is shit? Not everyone buys just to earn browny points, trying to appease strangers on the web. There are still people out there who buy something just because they like it believe it or not. @@rabbit32073 try an orient ray ii. Plan on putting it on a rubber strap, a Nadeau, or purchasing one of the strapcode bracelets. the watch is absolutely gorgeous and highly accurate with hand winding and hacking. Applied markers, applied logo, signed Crown, fantastic lume. The bracelet, with hollow end links, is pretty weak though... I will tell you that many guys wearing Omega and Rolex and so forth have stopped me over the past year and ask, what is that? When I tell them it's a $145 watch the can't believe it. In your hands, it feels like quality. In-house movement as well. mine currently runs about one and a half seconds a day fast. True. Pretty sure you will love it. He states in a different interview about the auction that it may be called, "The Art of Divorce," but that doesn't mean he has to sell this stuff to pay for the divorce. He has plenty of money to settle the divorce. He goes on to say that there was a time in his life when he felt like he needed all of this stuff, so he collected. Now, he's embraced more of a minimalist attitude, so it's just time to say goodbye to a lot of stuff. FYI, this auction contained a whole lot of different stuff, not just watches.

haha. Russell Crowe is worth north of 90 million dollars. I like the fact that he stays humble. Most important thing about watches, buy what you like, fuck the rest.

That vacheron dial and front of case is breathtaking. Equal to any and surpasses most. But the back of the case is just terrible. I just looked it up on chrono. The back really lets that watch down

Russell must be broke! Why would he sell watches that commemorate great moments in his life?
@Redbirdsfan1970
@Redbirdsfan1970 6 жыл бұрын
It's probably part of the divorce. The ex wants them and he's like I'll sell 'em before I give them to you. Doesn't the Art of Divorce title seem rather cheeky?
@bobfrombrisbane1831
@bobfrombrisbane1831 6 жыл бұрын
Redbirdsfan1970 clearly he does not want to sell them, a couple of times he says letting go of this one will hurt. I am sure he still has a few pieces. ⌚️⏱
@Redbirdsfan1970
@Redbirdsfan1970 6 жыл бұрын
Bob FromBrisbane, yep, I noticed that too. That's why I think this is part of the joy of divorce. She probably knows he loves certain things and wants her half of them and he's like I'll sell them before you can get hour hands on them, etc.

It must be nice having the wherewithal to pick up a new luxury watch whenever you feel like it. As a side note, it would've been good to see the rest of his collection, even if just a slow panning shot over the assembled pieces.

They're all watches from a short time period (mostly 2002-2004). I have the feeling he isn't dirt poor and scraping the bottom of the barrel to pay her off. It feels more like he's letting go of the stuff from the time he was married and killing two birds with one stone. The watches all have stories, but some of them are "I wore it that one night" and that sort of thing. I'm sure he has plenty more that are even more valuable and carry more memories.

Seems he and I have similar tastes in watches. Love his remarks about buying watches to mark moments, like we all do. His moments seem more interesting than others, but so what? Nice collection. And the haters can piss off. This guy buys what he wants, and I like the concept of the Icelandic watch...hey, I was in Iceland filming, I saw a watch from a local maker and I bought it to remember the shoot. Nice!
