Great video.... I had my timing belt replaced in the summer and it squeels really loudly for about 30 seconds before it finally stops. I asked the mechanic to look at it again but then it stopped happenig for about a week before I was due to take it in so cancelled...It' started squeeling on startup again. Thanks for this vid... I think I better get him to have a look again.

Id def go get it looked at. My old car did that an ended up breaking the chain an snapping both cams in half. Though the tiburon is belt driven if it fails it'll destroy your valves and you'll need a new engine.

12:00 this is the only video that shows how the tensioner bracket/pulley two tabs go on the freeze plug that's on the bottom and not on the top one. It also fits on the top one as well and that mistake could cause a lot of trouble.

Hey got a question I understand everything pretty well except when you get everything top dead center and take the belt off and go to install the new timing belt and the teeth don't line up exactly right. What are you supposed to do to get it right also how hard would you rate this I want to do it and am pretty mechanically inclined but never tackled a job like this I just want it done right and don't want to mess my motor up thanks and great video

@ThePariss333 I replaced my rear and passenger one last year. Passenger was ripped an could visuslly see it lift up when in gear an foot on the brake to torque on it. Bottom was squished an deformed probably cause of that. The front one looked fine the trannyside was looked ok from what I could see. They arent hard to do just use jack stands and a floorjack and wood to hold an move the motor up an down the passenger was just a pain getting it lined up the bottom rear the bolts get rusted an seized some I had to use a breaker bar to get them off cause they wouldn't come loose with a wrench and did not have access to an impact gun which would have been so much easier since the entire time loosening an putting tjem back in I had to use the breaker bar even after cleaning them up

@ThePariss333 yea I never did the transmission or front. The passenger fender one is just hard to get the bolts to slip in. The bottom bracket an stuff my only issue was the bolts were seized an I was laying on my back with about 4 inches between me and the car if that to try an move an get it out.

When l turn the crankshaft two revolutions, the tensioner arrow moved away from the center of the window. l did not do two teeth or 18degrees away from the red dot, could that make the diffrence to my problem?

Thank you for this video. One question though: when you turn the camshaft forward 2 teeth, do you turn this back again afterwards? Isn't the engine timing misaligned when you only turn the camshaft without the crankshaft (which doesn't turn because of the missing tension)? I'm not an expert - in fact, it's all new to me. Maybe you can help fill my knowledge gap on this one :)

There are timing marks that you line up, Sometimes the instructions specifically tell you to rotate a cam a bit, yes just to get the belt on and the you turn it back to line up marks. I recommend a timing belt kit, for timing belt replacement jobs. It will come with a nice instruction guide.

Jack h if the timing belt busts you're looking at major damage to the engine, bent rods and valves, and you'd have to buy a new engine and/or new car

@@orionthehunter-9721 depends if you were driving, or parked when it broke. I was parked when mine broke, and it didn't damage anything besides buying a new belt, and pump while I had it apart. Some cars are tolerant though in case something like this happens.
