This is why there is a online campaign to make the studio release his original version. Everybody knows Schumacher never made this kind of bubbly campy movie on his career, so there is numerous attempts to convince the studio release the "original dark and gloomy cut" (or you can see through the Virtual Workprint cut what Schumacher really wanted to do with Batman without the studio interference)

Every actor picked for this film was actually perfectly chosen, including Val Kilmer. He was an excellent choice for both Bruce Wayne and Batman. What really lacks in this movie is the writing and directing since it was originally supposed to be Tim Burton’s and everything was given over to different writers and Joel Schumacher to direct. He’s a great director but this shows nothing of his real talent.

this is actually my favorite of the original Batman movies from the Burton era, mainly because I love Jim Carrey's portrayal of the Riddler. I think he played it exactly as he should have: over the top and campy. I also really enjoyed Tommy Lee Jones' performance as Two Face. in fact, I'd say all the performances in this movie are great; the directing is what was off in it but even with that I still enjoy it for what it is. it's a fun popcorn flick that doesn't take itself too seriously and sometimes we need that. Batman and Robin is along those same lines but I will say that Uma Thurman and Arnold Schwarzenegger do a great job in their roles. looking forward to seeing your reaction! ❤️

In my opinion, Batman and Robin was not at its best. But it had some good moments. Uma Thurman as poison ivy definitely carried the movie as well as Arnold Schwarzenegger. I love Uma Thurman‘s performance and I loved Arnold’s characters story. Because it gives you the realization that not all villains just like cat woman want to choose the Life of crime, but sometimes feel the need to when something else important arise. No, villains like Poison ivy, penguin, two-face, and joker chose to be bad. Even after the accident they could’ve change their ways but they purposely chose not to. I did love that they introduced Batgirl, although I know it wasn’t ideal for its characters history. However I do love the connection they give to the character because when “someone” who’s been there and all movies is at risk it makes dramatization all the better.

This has always been my favorite batman movie, primarily because the riddler is my favorite villain. I know most people hated it because it was so ridiculous and campy... but we're in a universe with a billionaire who dresses as a bat and fights against cartoonish villains... if you're coming into this looking for gritty realism, you've taken a wrong turn somewhere... also, holy rusted metal batman is one of the greatest callback lines in cinema history.

From the original movies this was my favourite. I liked Jim Carrey and Val Kilmer's work very much. It is Batman Forever because Bruce decides to keep being Batman after the emotional and psicologic issues he was having before he saved Robin and his girlfriend.

I loved this movie when it came out in '95. Saw it for my 10th birthday, bought every action toy tied to it, could even quote it. Now? Holy dog sh*t, Batman. As soon as Tommy Lee Jones says the word "luck" during his opening monologue, this movie turns into a shower of neon piss. It's still a great movie for the kids, but God, now as an adult, and a filmmaker, the frustration I have over this film could likely power a small car.

Edward Nygma refers to enigma, the code machine that was used by the Germans in World War Two. Back in the day it was known to be unresolvable. I highly recommend the movie The Imitation Game starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightly to learn more about this interesting topic. It’s a great movie!

The earlier Batman movies are some of the best (especially with the Joker's characterization imo)! Some other movies I think you might like to react to are 50 first dates (Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore!), Music and Lyrics (Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant), How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days (Matthew Mcconaughey and Kate Hudson), and Failure to Launch (Matthew Mcconaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker)!! Also, Succession would be a great television show to react to (if you could find the time, obviously). The dialogue is outstanding!! 🤩

I actually didn't mind the tone shift from Returns to Forever. In fact, there are some straight up nightmarish moments in this movie, especially the scenes with the giant bat and Riddler by the end. Sure, Jim Carrey is hilarious and over-the-top, but he can be super creepy, even terrifying if he wants. It's a good thing he brought this kind of acting for Sonic the Hedgehog. Also, I've seen the new Batman movie today and I loved it. I'm sure you will, too.

This movie is directed by Joel Schumacher. Joel is not a bad director. He did one of the best Vampire movies which is The Lost Boys. He did another horror movie called Flatliners. Falling Down is a great movie he directed. 8mm is a good Nicholas Cage movie. He worked on the House of Cards series. He did a live action 101 Dalmatians for Disney starring Glenn Close as Cruella.

Tim Burton had planned to direct the third Batman film, but Warner Bros. decided to move on without him. They let him have an executive producer credit, but he didn't direct it. Bill Dee Williams played Harvey Dent in the first film, so there was some drama over the recasting of the character in Batman Forever.

Batman Forever was meant to be a deep psychological examination of Bruce Wayne. The point was that he thought he was being Batman for revenge but was really doing it to assuage all the guilt he repressed because he blamed himself for the murder of his parents. The final entry in his father's diary was about how Bruce really wanted to see a movie so he thought it was his fault his parents were at the place where they were shot. That guilt is why he ran into the storm where he fell into the cave and saw the bat. Seeing the same thing happen to Dick's family triggered those repressed memories. By the end he realizes that his parents' death was not his fault, freeing him of the guilt and allowing him to be Batman because he chooses to be instead of having to be. That was why it was called 'Batman Forever.' But many of the scenes showcasing this plotline were cut because the studio wanted something more happy-meal friendly. There are some remnants of it, such as his saying 'I killed them' when talking about the deaths of Dick's family and Dr. Meridian saying that she believes Batman is subjecting himself to nightly torture as penance for some great crime. The movie would have been much better if the scenes resolving this internal struggle weren't cut.

When I was a kid I went and saw this at the theatres years ago and I use to thought this was the coolest Batman movie ever even the next one you have to remember this was the 1990s alot of movies were so over the top you actually didn't notice how over the top they were but when you look at it over 20 years later yeah I agree they haven't aged well and it looks pretty bad it's fun but it's not great. It mostly went from a darker film into a kid friendly film to promote the toys and it was sponsored by McDonalds as to why they made the joke at the beginning when Alfred asks him "might I persuade you to take a handsandwitch with you sir?" then Batman says "I'll get drive through". Val Kilmer was great but sadly didn't play Batman the way he visioned the character.

This movie has 20-30 minutes cut out from finish version. In original Bruce had kinda split personality of Batman and Bruce. He had strong guilt. His parents came to theatre where they've died because Bruce really wanted to go watch the movie that evening. Whole movie Bruce was raising the questions, does he neeed to continue being Batman or he should retire. In the end he accepts both Bruce Wayne and Batman. He saves both Chase and Dick. And there is the line in the end that Bruce will be Batman forever. That's why this movie called like that.

This is an underrated classic. Not enough people talk about this Batman movie. And also my hot take is that Val Kilmer's Bruce Wayne is superior to all other Bruce Wayne performances. The key is subtlety, and Kilmer's Bruce is very subdued and reserved.
