I stubled upon this video just now, but I still greet you to the ranks of Helldivers. Additionally I have to mention that this was a wise decision - to start off with Bugs. I didn't have this kind of wisdom myself back in the day so I went against bots as the second mission and since that I kept fighting them out of the sheer stubborness. Only some time after that I found out that I apparently was one of the Creek Crawlers... I salute you, as well as any other Helldiver that keeps fighting for Freedom and Democracy. And to the fellow Crawlers: Keep spilling oil, brothers and sisters, for there's a bigger threat on its way and we need out finest warriors to be ready to repell that threat.

So happy you tried this yesterday! I dived into the game a day ago too. I found myself a little lost initially and it was helpful to see how you navigated similar expectations. A couple of practical things that helped: Rebind your keys for Stratagem Up/Down/Left/Right to your arrow keys. Plus change ‘Open Stratagem List’: Press Ctrl. I also found having a higher ranked player take me through a few missions helped me understand what to do in the heat of battle and how to spend my ‘points’ on Ship/Stratagems etc. The goal is when on land go do the side quests to get Samples to cash in later! Ive never felt like Im in Starship Troopers more than this game.. Im liberated and loving every moment of it! Cant wait to see you squad up with Doc! Be aware friendly fire is on, so dont forget you have a Strategem to Redeploy (your tutorial skipped this during the network error you got)!!

Also maybe it’s just me but going from playing COD over the years to this this game I get a renewed feeling of passion not only from the community but from the developers! There’s so many fun/funny little details in the game that show this dev team is actually like what they’re making! Their CEO or something said they even have a specific developer who’s job it is to basically be a “dungeon master” and be in control of what planets the enemies attack and what missions everyone is given.
