I believe she had made a point about wanting all of the songs she puts out to be able to be performed acoustically in one way or another. she never wants to need to rely on production or tweaks in the studio. this was evident when she had performed 'all the good girls go to hell' and 'bad guy', two songs that are very production-driven and upbeat, acoustically. that's when I knew this girl could do anything.

I admit that I don't really know a lot about mic technique, but I thought part of the reason she was tilting her head sooo much was to get more distance from the mic when she belts, since they set the mic to pick up every little breath and sigh when she is soft.
@TimWelchVocalStudio3 ай бұрын
The pull away is so the belt doesn’t become too loud in the mix, the head tilt is for technique.

Enjoyed ur reaction. Big BiFi fan. I feel like Billie is a once in a gen singer (I agree with Mitch below), I'm also from the Beatles era (her favorite band). I knew you would love the other singers whom she picked particularly, they are lead vocalists on their own. Love to hear u do more Billie. I love her new album, it was created as a full album listen, as the story and sound all flows. You are right, she is becoming more confident in her vocal abilities, but I've heard so much I love even from her 1st EP. Thanks again!

At what point do we get an analysis of Billie's skill set that references BEL CANTO ? The point where she started moving from untrained genius to today's master of operatic technique came back in 2020 when COVID blocked her WWAFAWDWG tour. Between ZOOM and the L.A. Phil community, Billie has seen more than 1,000 lessons.

You may want to check out Lamour De Ma Vie from the same session. In the Amazon presentation she says that this song is one of her favorites from the album to sing because it's really right in the middle of her range. They have done a lot of tracks where she does a very high falsetto but apparently she likes the jazzy mid range. Her speaking voice is kind of low and smoky so that makes sense.

Halloween night - Here's a suggestion this Halloween - you could let us know if it's a TRICK OR TREAT - take a not to serious look at the Billie's Tik Tok Halloween cowgirl singing with a yodel - I couldn't believe it was Billie until I saw her singing and her singing turning into laughter - For me this is a fun, spontaneous exhibition of the strength of her voice in a way that I have never heard in any song she has ever sung. You could tell us what she is doing with her voice here - letting loose without constraint - for the fun of it. I was amazed! And her laugh is also classic.

I hope this wins song of the year or at least the greatest or the whole album. It’s time they win for an album! As someone who sings live on a weekly basis with a microphone and a sound tech back at the board, I pull my head back so that he does not have to adjust the fader. I want to be in control of the dynamics, personally. Billy’s influence on my singing, as a 49-year-old with lots of experience, has made me a better singer in the softer breathier times I need to sing that way. It’s really hard, but when done right and enunciated well, makes such a difference. Whoops. Came and edited that I watched your reaction to the greatest & you discussed the volume/distortion in belting. Sorry about that. 🤦♀️

I love your reaction but I would like to think they have responded to me - As excellent as I believe Billie and Finneas are - I saw them in St. Paul, MN on March 15, 2022 at the Xcel Energy Center and Billie was/is pheonomenal - but there have been shows where Finneas quits acoutic and them someone runs out with electric or a bass guitar and I'm thinking - Finneas, trust other musicians - it looks stupid to do that; When Billie sang Peggy Lee's "Fever" with Christian McBride she was terrific. I truly believe, no matter how well they have been received - and I believe they are unique and terrific and deserving of every accolade - but not just myself, but others wonder why aren't other musicians - intrumentalist and vocalists with gifts all their own TRUSTED, RESPECTED and ASKED to be a part of the Billie and Finneas phenomenon - I'm 70 - they have seen my comments on FACEBOOK, you tube and perhaps you were the 1 more INCENTIVE that was needed - Andrew the tour drummer has been with them faithfully since at least 2017 (maybe 2016).
