Tim great break down, seems like a lot of fighter's today forgot the art of "hit but don't get hit" and the " Philly Shell " is a great way to accomplish that goal ! You and Smokin Joe had different versions but equally effective! Thanks for another great lesson my grandson is learning a lot !

Great details. This channel is going to blow up once the word gets out. One small thing I noticed that may help Roy is to hold a tennis ball to his lower throat/upper chest with his chin and that will help to tuck the chin. Also to have him stand with his back against a wall and just practice blocking head shots to get in the habit of not turning his head away from punches and exposing the side of his face/chin and back of his head. One of the hardest natural reactions to break is to not turn away from punches. Everybody does it in the beginning. You are a master Mr. Witherspoon and I loved watching you fight growing up. Please keep sharing your knowledge. I wish I was 25 years younger and had access to your teachings.

I notice when top lvl guys use the Cross Guard like Archie Moore, You, Max Baer, George Foreman, Marciano, Frazier, it really seems to help them keep control of the center of the ring and make the other guy have to move or come closer to you. I got in trouble during my 1st Amateur sparring expo for using it when smaller Heavyweights jumped on me and the ref said it was pushing.
