Tinting Car Windows With Privacy Film. in this video we attempt to try our hand at tinting a car window with privacy film. We are no experts but we thought we'd film it from a novice's perspective so you can see if it's something you might want to try.
Enjoy.

Thank you so much for showing us this guys. Very kind of you. This is something I want for my back windows. My DIY skills are lacking though, but I will try and get a professional to do it for me. If I can find a cheap one around. 😊

Could not agree more. My Mondeo has had about £1000 spent by me on it and has done 50k in two years, if I hadn't had the skills or been prepared to give it a go then either it would be scrapped or cost another £3k on top for labour.

mate in the future just so you know they sell tint on ebay pre-cut and moulded to the shape of the windows for not much more for mine witch is a 5 door witch you would get the back window the 2 rear doors and them little windows between boot and rear doors for around 20 quid it save a lot of messing about with heat guns and its a lot quicker.. you done a real good job on that mate

great video Martin, I done this around 9 years ago with a Renault Clio I had but I used mirrored film and it turned out great it goes to show it's worth having a crack at it yourself and if all else fails you can just peel it off and get a pro to do it and it's no major loss just a roll of film and a little time. I enjoyed this video and I look forward to seeing the next you make *cough food and cooking* :) and as always it's a thumbs up from me

I've just done the service and getting the fuel filter off was a mare. Unfortunately, I broke the fuel feed pipe so I've had to buy a replacement on eBay. Removing the pipe involves dropping the tank but fortunately, there's an inspection panel under the rear seat which makes the fuel pump a bit easier to get to.

Good job done for a first go. I self taught myself to window tint before the luxury of KZbin or internet for that matter lol. Good luck with the back window, your lucky it's only a small window on the car your doing. Probably best done with two people so you can shut matey there in the boot to chase water out while you heat up the glass. Iv had a couple of cars if mine I had to do the rear window in 2 or even 3 strips because of the curve in the glass. You should get away with one piece on your window though. I'd always take wind down windows out to tint. I'd always get 100% pro job done on them. Looking forward to see you tint the back window. Anyone can do this, just got to have the b0###x to get stuck in and have a go! 👍

I enjoy watching videos by average people who learn as they go on do more videos on tint if you redo them, 20% tint is okay on front sides in uk as long as 70% lights going through so still like 80% getting through with 20 tint
@stever6542
@stever6542 5 жыл бұрын
Wrong mate....only about 80% of light gets through clear glass ie...front and side windows...so max only 10% tint....

Did you do the rear window in the end Martin? I could do the side windows on my Fiesta (about as easily as you did it) but struggled on the rear. You sort of struggle shrinking it and it ended up creasing on me twice. Want to have another go with a new technique but was just wondering how easily you managed to get it done. As you say we live in a throwaway society and I hate paying someone to do a job I know I can learn to do myself.

You done side windows first cut wrong. Tint can only be shrunk to the factory grain. Otherwise it creases the fingers. You need to have tint going side to side not up and down. As fingers can only srink up and down to factory grain.. Also you heed to head srink all windows unless completely flat. Very rarely in a car. But good attempt. Im self taught and still learning as i plan to do this plus detailing and mods on a mobile scale.

It's a bit of a tough one, I'm getting mine done soon and my insurance only want £30 admin fee. Hi, when I get to the point of putting the vinyl on the inside of the window the water streaks look really dirty between the vinyl and the glass. I've cleaned the window within an inch of its life including using a blade, cleaned the water spray and put fresh water in it. I'm too scared to dry it this way incase the streaks remain and it looks terrible and is then difficult to remove. Have you any advice on this ? Will the drying process remove the streaks ? Cheers !
