We're out here this morning to disc up a strip I intend to use as a screen for hunting. I plowed it last week, and mowed it the week before. We've still got time to get this screen planted from Northwoods Whitetail, but we want it to be able to grow as high as possible, so the sooner the better.
Plus we're running a sale and want to remind you of all the ways you can save at GWT year round!

one thing that would be great is if there was a decent tow behind version for these smaller tractors, everything I have seen for smaller tractors and atv/utv is either way too lightly built or low quality and does a poor job... a nice 4 or 5ft tow behind disc would definitely make a world of difference and you could add more weight to really bust up those clumps.

For small equipment Xtra weight is needed for alot of attachments. My final pass before planting would be to run a tiller over it to break up the grass clumps. Fuel is to high to keep going over it with a disk especially on a small area. Just me.

Check the radiator cap. My dad used to own an auto restoration business before retiring and you'd be surprised how often people would come in having already changed the thermostat and convinced their radiator was plugged when a new radiator cap was all they needed.

Courtney, I really enjoy watching your videos! My wife and I are currently looking at purchasing about 80 acres in Tennessee and if that goes through I will definitely be buying some tractor stuff from you. If it doesn’t go through we’re still looking and so chances are high that we will end up doing some business. I really enjoy the fact that you don’t just sell the stuff but you demonstrate it and talk about it and it’s just a great resource! May the Lord bless you and your family.

Thats more like it, a little more weight does wonders. For the overheating problem first try an aircomb on the rad, but tstats are cheap and easy to replace. Just pop a new one in. How far do you pull down the RPM’s from rated? The throttle usually goes past pto speed by a small amount, then you load down to pto rpm. If the governer cannot maintain pto rpm you are lugging = high heat and damage.

On a recent grapple project w/ my New Holland it was running right up to the red on the gauge. It was the radiator screen right in the front of the radiator was 2/3 clogged with dusty vegetation. I slid it out of its track, clapped it out on a tree and temp came right down. it did happen 2 more times in that 8 hour work day.

My 2014 1025r would get a little hot, brushoging, tilling. But if it got hot that meant I needed to take a break to. I did have to add coolant quite often during higher temps but I kept the airflow clean and clear all the time sometimes clearing it twice a day if brushoging. My kubota l2800 never got hot.

Check between the radiator and any transmission cooler...there may be dirt in between. Try spraying out with a garden hose from BEHIND the radiator if you can spray through the fan. This fixed my issue due to a ton of dirt build up that I couldn't see from the front. As soon as I started spraying from the inside/backside, the mud started pouring out.

Have you tried power washing the radiator fins? It may be possible some of the finer dust could have breached the rad filter and sticking in the air pathways. Please keep us posted once you find out the reason for the overheating.
@bradgulczewski9551

I had the same issue on an ATV. It built up coal dust and dirt dust that accumulated in between the radiator fins, if you looked at you would never see looking at it from the front or back till you take a shop light and held it up to the back of it and look through the front and could not see any of the light. Power washed it for a good hour to get all of the very fine dust that got packed in there, the ATV never overheated again. It’s worth a look with a shop light held to it, especially check all 4 corners of the radiator.

Just be careful power washing the fins because they're delicate and can bend.

Don't power wash, too easy to damage the fins. The Radiator Genie set works well.. though the quality could be better.
@johnwest3935

@@yayinternets I agree that power, power washing might not be a good idea but a lighter rinse setting is what I had in mind. High pressure air would not be great either and could damage it as well. One would be surprised how simple green and a good hose sprayer from a general water spigot spraying from reverse flow may perform however, removing the rad and cleaning would be the best if one has the skills.

Not sure of JD, but the Kubota BX has an oil cooler radiator next to the Coolant radiator, and dirt/dust can build up there. My brother has a BX that was even in to the dealer for over heating. He finally sprayed out this area, and magically no more overheating.

Replace the thermostat on your 1025 and or back flush your coolant system. You can get a system flush kit at most auto parts stores. It’s cheap and easy to do. But I would say it’s probably the thermostat sticking.

When it’s Hot outside and really dumping fuel to pull larger ground engaging attachment with small HP…… dust is a major cause of overheating. I mow a ton of acres with 2ea Ventrac 4500z 33hp machines and have to regularly stop and clean the screen to maintain temp. Then as the day wears on I have to head back to the shop to high pressure air blast out the radiator fins and the important part…… blow all the dust off of the whole engine surface and every nook & cranny. The dust will and does hold heat in the engine. After that all is good… for a while. My experience is that anything that is hydro or CVT and below 50 engine HP WILL overheat. The cooling systems are not robust enough to work at sustained RPM for any length of time in the summer time temps. I’ve got two 125hp New Holland T6050 tractors that are 6 cylinder pre emission engines with 70 gal fuel tanks and the will run all day long ( 10-12 hrs ) and the heat gauge barely moves into the bottom of the normal heat range with an outside temp of 100 degrees with 90% humidity in west Tennessee. Additionally I never have to clean the radiator screens because the hood intakes were designed to catch most if not all the airborne particulate first. Hydros cooling systems are just not designed properly to hold cost down if you really run em hard.

I don’t see how the disk floating in the quick attach would benefit from the weight… But as you do have a fabricator, have you ever given thought to having a fabricate something that fits on a box and or angle framed disc? I think that would be an amazing product.
@GoodWorksTractors
@GoodWorksTractors 6 ай бұрын
How is that different from floating on the 3 point? 3 point hitches don't have downpressure and float.

@@GoodWorksTractors It, the downward pressure, caused by the weight, is not over the cutting surface where it is needed. You have the means, what I’m saying is, a product that might be in high demand is an attachment fabricated to fit on angle and box discs that allows suitcase weights over or next to the front gang.

Looks like that tractor is too small for the size/weight of that disc. Also, leaving the loader on is adding too much load and excess weight for that little engine in such rough terrain. Not to mention that small front end axle isn't built for what you are doing there. This is a "garden" tractor, not an "ag" tractor.
