Just wanna say that, even though I've been subbed to you for years now, I never enjoyed your content as much as I do now. You were still exclusively doing video game reviews back then (i think either Tony Hawk Ride or Prison Tycoon 3 was the first video I saw from you), and while I always liked your videos and thoroughly enjoyed your sense of humor, I absolutely love your content nowadays, I cook a lot so seeing you try your best at making stuff from obscure recipes, reviewing comfort foods or even combining both to create some monstrosities in the process (sausage in a twinkie wtf) is just absolutely wonderful. Maybe you don't always know what you're doing ("How do I hardboil an egg?") but that just makes it even more charming, because cooking is a journey and seeing people enjoying it as much as you appear to do really does make one appreciate the art a lot more. I also haven't even touched on your Televoid series, which ignited a love in black-and-white TV I didn't even know I had. Also your editing is just fantastic and really brings a lot of rewatchability, because I notice something new in the background everytime. So long story short, whether you are cooking stuff, eating stuff, watching TV with us or talk about dumb movie, I love every second of it and you've become one of my "must watch" channels.

I mean you did pretty well considering you couldn't read the instructions. These kind of kits are so common and so popular in Japan. In fact there's a lot of Japanese candy in general that requires crazy amounts of work. There's this candy called Neri Ame, where it's basically this incredibly sticky melted sugar like substance, and you knead it between two chopsticks until the color changes and it becomes less transparent. It takes so much effort because it's so thick and sticky, but it's super sweet and tasty. Also it'll make a mess. Maybe you could try it some time?
@lyssako6 жыл бұрын
Person who can actually read Japanese here! As it turns out, there's actually full English instructions available but I gotta say you did a pretty good job interpreting from the pictures alone. I couldn't find any data on what it's actually made of, but according to the allergen information on the website it contains egg, milk, pork, chicken, wheat, and soy. It specifically specifies beef is not! That said, it also says on the packaging "tastes just like the real thing!" so... you weren't quite on the nose at the end there. But neither were they so it balances out I guess?
@YasugoLiehu6 жыл бұрын
Ryuu Kitsune Just as a total tangent; I would never want to be the one who has to type all of the instructions for this. Typing 漢字 is a pain as it is, I don't want to type all of that 読み仮名。
@mkw39806 жыл бұрын
@@YasugoLiehu I will never understand why weebs feel as if they need to show the world that they know Japanese. You literally typed out 2 phrases which are lengthy to type on a Japanese keyboard, while saying you do not like to do it. Why even comment if it's that much trouble? "Just as a total tangent"; which job will you get with your Japanese skills? Do you know how hard it is for a foreigner to get work in Japan? Christ. You guys want to know so much about Japan, but you only get into the cultural aspects of it. That is exactly why you weebs remain in the metaphorical basement of your mom's house.

@Jupiter Javelin Don't get me wrong, buddy. I am definitely one who enjoys a lot of Japanese content. I love anime and Japanese games. It is the culture behind the whole thing which fucking kills me.
@mkw39806 жыл бұрын
@Jupiter Javelin Thought I would add this, since it is on topic: when I was like 10, the rumors for Kingdom Hearts 2 were coming in full-force. All pics coming to the US from Japan were, predictably, subtitled in Japanese. I thought to myself "i need to learn Japanese, so i can read this stuff in the future and know exactly what I'm seeing." Luckily, I became somewhat smart in my late teens and realized: learning Japanese does almost nothing for Americans. If one wants to learn a language in America (or Europe, for that matter) and have a step up, learn Spanish. You'll always have a use for it. Japanese? You'll have a use for it as a hobby. Totally useless, and totally stupid for people to even try impressing others in using it. It's all self-glorification and it is VERY ridiculous.

The Popin' Cookin' stuff isn't supposed to taste like what it looks like. It's usually candy-flavored. I dunno what the hamburger one is, but the ramen one is soda and the sushi is like... generic gummy nonsense. They're all awful tasting, though. 99% of the joy is just the cooking (ramen and sushi both have weird food magic, which is why I even remember doing them). The other 1% comes from the potential of tricking other people into eating them instead of you.
