An in-depth tour of Ariel McGlothin's off-grid tiny house lifestyle in the mountains of western Wyoming. CAUTION: Your fantasy bubble may be burst! This is a REAL-world view of what it takes to run a sustainable, off-grid homestead.
Ariel's converted her Astro Van into a delightfully simple and functional adventure mobile. This is her second (tinier) home/camper van, perfect for her wildlife photography adventures across the mountains of Wyoming. It also serves as an essential lifestyle tool for Ariel's off-grid tiny house on wheels nestled in the woods, outside the Bridger-Teton National Forest.

She explained this tour clearly, understandably, and directly. I am really impressed by the amount of room AND storage space in this home. Certainly doesn’t look so tiny on the inside. Organization and practicality really make the difference.

This is a good book. Does provide a step by step introduction to how to build things kzbin.infoUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 , also does offer some steps. Includes pictures to give you ideas for layouts and such. If you are looking for a guide, this is not exactly what you want. But if you are trying to familiarize yourself with the way that pole barn building and other out buildings, are made, then this will work just as you need it to. A few things in this book are a barn (of course), detached garage, storage building, and coops.

I’ve seen scores of tiny house videos ranging from mini mansions down to what amounts to a hunting shack. Your tiny house doesn’t fall into anything I’ve seen. It is truly a home that is well planned, obviously well built, and well provisioned. You’ve made the perfect tiny “HOME” video....because it appears you actually have the perfect tiny home. You didn’t say exactly where you were located but it looks like you are near the Grands.... beautiful country regardless of where it is. I hope you own the property and can continue your tiny home lifestyle for as long as it suits you. I would have to say if anyone were to change their lifestyle that included living in a tiny house, your video would would be a valuable guide. Well Done!

They sell send flat water tanks that are plastic and I would keep it in the car so you can fill it out and then when she gets back to the home she can pump it out with an electric pump and then it would be real easy and it would hold a Lotta water

In some tiny house presentation i usually skip most of the “talking” hahaha but this one i manage to watch and listen from start to finish. I was not interested what she does on the outside of the house but i did watch it. It’s perhaps because she is very articulate and smart speaker. I love it. I wish i had a teacher like her hahaha I actually cannot concentrate in a classroom, i got easily destructed every time a teacher speak haha 🤣

This is a GREAT in-depth video showing all sorts of details of tiny house living! Soon as I saw Ariel's axe chopping wood at the beginning, I was hooked! I split my own wood here in suburbia (Ohio) and heat most of my little brick cape cod with it. However, this quaint, functional tiny house is amazing, and gives me lots of inspiration for future downsizing. Thank you!

Ariel, such a pleasure to watch your channel. When I was your age, I lived in a quaking Aspen cabin that I had to walk over a mile to get to, w/ no water/power, 5 years, in North Cascades. 12x12, two wood stoves and snow melted in a corner barrel. Reading old Natl. Geo. Mags w/Popcorn & Whiskey, was Saturday night entertainment, if too cold to go out. Had to cross country ski in. This video clearly demonstrates you know how to do it, too. So nice to see another young woman doing this. Can tell by the comments in such a short time, it strikes a cord w/others. You will always cherish the memory of these days, and keep you a grounded human being, centered by the quiet of nature, as you seem to be now. Looking forward to your future posts, as I am thinking of downsizing empty nest.

@Lee bearrat: Sheesh, it's amazing what offends people these days. I think the comment was meant as a compliment. Not a whole lot of women do this sort of thing. It takes skill, talent, and resolve for ANYONE to do this sort of thing, male or female. And YES, a male doing this in our day and age is a big deal. Most snowflakes hang at Starbucks and wouldn't leave the big city if you personally funded them for the rest of their lives.

Just sold a mile along a highway shy a section and don't have to worry in my life time about money. Point. Buy now don't wait it isn't going to get cheaper and you can build land ask the Japanese what a acre cost them water to land on the airport they are building.

This house is so freaking cute and very practical. I can only imagine how much money you save every year compared to a " regular house". I wish I could live like this. Once my children grow up and move away this is something I would love to try. This kind of living is really inspirational. Thank you for sharing your home with us.❤️❤️❤️

Wow, wow!!! Nice presentation of what is the sweetest tiny house I have seen. I like that you made space for your books. Clever dining area table. A tiny wood stove is a great heat source. Sensible sleeping loft. I come from the yacht world so efficient use of space appeals. Also quality of materials and fixtures. Nicely done!!! You are living my dream!

I'm way too anxious to live there, even if i adore these houses. All that wildlife would keep me from sleeping at nite. She is meant for this, that's why she was so successful in her project. She didn't let any fear ruin it. Way to go!

Fascinating! The fact that the wall and the 'curtain' door to the loft keeps enough of the heat lowered is something I have never heard before, Very practical information! Thank you!

I am so impressed by your home! Efficiency, nature all around, beautiful comfort inside (you're barefoot & short sleeved inside with feet of snow piled outside!) and everything is set up so you have ez access to daily necessities! What a wonderful life 👍 Being an older person with achy joints, I would just add a compact swedish (?) hot tub that is wood heated w/a coiled element near your exterior fire ring living space. You and your home are beautiful! Your elk steak meal looked delicious too! Thank you 🤗

Wow! A tremendous presentation by a "thinker," with attention to detail. The tiny house, with backup power/heat resources available. Seems nearly perfect to me.

You are brilliant. That is the nicest efficient tiny house. There's nothing you need. I would live in one if I didn't have a big family. Many happy years in your home. So wonderful!! I enjoyed the tour very much. Thank you.🌺🌷🌺🌷

I have to agree with all of the other kudos you've received. The house is exceptionally designed for both comfort and functionality. I love the fact you invested additional space to your kitchen. My biggest surprise was the loft and the amount of room you have. Like you, I prefer a much cooler sleeping area, so I immediately identified with your steps to limit excess heat up there. As a gadget freak, I'd probably build something similar to your "out house" on the hill above the solar panels to collect some radio/TV signals, place a few other gadgets, and maybe even a sat dish nearer to the house. And as one or two others remarked, I'd probably investigate a few methods for collecting and storing water to keep from having to haul it all in the way you're doing now. But, that's just me and no reflection on your homestead design. My biggest concern would be for the wildlife, especially the bears, and second is the possibility of some low-life deciding to pay you an unannounced visit. Thugs are easily dealt with but a hungry bear that smells something cooking on the stove won't be stopped by a locked door or window. Haven't gone to your blog or the other links, yet, but you've probably already come up with a plan. Great video, informative and inspirational. Thanks for posting it. Cheers!
