I typically don't like open kitchen family room open concept. The chef is left to the mercy of whatever is happening in the family room. I would love to cook in my kitchen with a video tutorial on a device. However, if you're single open concept is the best option for visually open space! I have an RV, and it's fitted with awful construction materials, as an RV, it was okay. As a prime living space, it's getting an indoor remodel! I think I have it figured out in my head, now to get it on paper and more important, getting the RV on a permanent spot.

Charging $2,000/mo to live in a tiny house is the anti-thesis to tiny house living. The whole point of tiny was to give affordable options to people who otherwise would not have a chance to own a home. And instead, the space has been dominated by people looking to turn a quick buck, further pricing low income users out of the space through competition. Pointless.

I was a carpenter for 15 years of my life and most of that was building rich people's 'spaces'. I say 'spaces' because you get a feel for spaces that aren't meant to be lived in but showcased and these have that feeling. I'm sure it is because she is using them as income as an Airbnb but these are like the spaces I build in tourist spots where people pay millions for tiny cabins to live in maybe 14 days out of the year. Just by watching your videos I can tell if the place is lived in or the space is made to just showcase how much they make or their creative side. I'm guessing she didn't show Lilypad because that is the house she lives in and isn't fancy. She thinks it isn't fancy but I like seeing homes made to be lived in more than spaces made to showcase. She lives in it and she knows it has a lot of quarks but I like seeing those and how people work with them. It has a cozy feeling. I'm not saying these aren't great looking but I don't see anyone living full time in them. They are more like spaces people rent and say 'wow, how cute' but after a few nights they realize they aren't for living just staying at. It is the kind of feeling you get when you visit your family member who has a guest room they put a lot of effort into making look cute and you're afraid to touch anything in fear of breaking it where your other relative just has a bedroom for you to use and you feel way more comfortable. Like I said I would really like to see her Lilypad and see how she lives.

For that guest space I would've done a half French door so that the fridge and coffee station/kitchen storage could be set up just inside the door since I don't think the sofa bed extends that far. Then leave the bathroom as a bathroom and that storage could be a full wardrobe and have a heavy curtain made of water resistant material to separate it from the rest of the bathroom. I don't like the idea of a fridge and food storage and wares in the bathroom. Other than that it's a lovely house. I like the idea that if you have friends or family visiting they have their own space and everyone can be comfortable.

You are very correct, the idea of Tiny House’s was to provide housing options for people who could not afford to buy full sized home. In my city they costs as much as full sized homes and some times even more than full sized homes. Now Tiny Homes are a fad that most people can not afford. My city wants to build 50 tiny homes and spend tax payers money to build them but it would be cheaper to build 50 full sized homes they would cost less to build.

The two homes with a porch between the main home and guess home is probably the best layouts of where and how the space is used . Most tiny home plans really don't think about the best layout . I think about layouts all the time but now I have to look seriously at layouts that would work for disabled people to be accommodating to each of their needs . I will have to build one to the specs that I need which is for a wheelchair / power chair and maneuvering space . The homes with a porch between them gave some great ideas for me and the space needed . I want to say thank you to her she really gave some solutions to a couple areas . Fantastic ! ! ! ! ! Have a great time designing these homes . This could be a winner for her , seniors and disabled folks . This is how a person could truly help someone else and get that good feeling and memories that could impress others .☺️. ☺️. ☺️. 😜. 😜. 😜 My bad , don't forget if you will be living in a tiny house , you can't forget to have a tiny car .🚗 🚗. 🚗. 🚗. 🚗. 🚗

She really should have watched a ton of your videos before building. She keeps talking about storage, but she MISSED EVERY OPPORTUNITY to add storage! She added massive wrong scale furniture, skipped closets and built-ins, even flipping a few appliances would have gave her so many more options. Van lifers, Schooling & Marine builders have this stuff down. Trial and error got them there, so people take advantage of their knowledge! Her sink in her bathroom alone - Ikea makes a TINY vessel sink on a cabinet with a TON of storage as small as that basket she has her dirty clothes in! Flipping her shower & toilet would have given her an entire wall to do a built in clear up to her roof. She could have used that back wall to built one massive wall of built-ins and pull out drawers or sliding barn style doors. She could have bought that same tiny sink and used it on that wall of built ins. She could have gotten the tiny triangle sink the van lifers all have, or the cube sink. She could have did one entire wall of ikea 8-12ft built ins opposite of the Murphy bed. Those even have a flip up table. Her kitchen could have used a wall flip up table for 4, perfect for puzzles, dinner and kids when renting. The fireplace she could have gotten the flush ones that Lowes has that stick away from your wall 3", The couch she picked the tiny house community loves an Ikea couch that turns into a bed and chaise hold all the linens and sheets. Where is her master closet?? He washer and dryer could have fit under a built-in bar side by side - and still been full size. Multi use with storage is what she hasn't gotten down yet. They look cute but she has NO STORAGE & NO CLOSETS. I lived in a 42ft 5th wheel for work. I had a 3 sliding door residential shower, vessel sink 3 cabinets in my bathroom alone. Walk in closet, washer dryer, under bed, built-in bookshelf, built in bench, dresser and over bed and over dresser cabinets, shoe racks for 42 pairs of shoes. That's an RV! I had 5 super slides, table for 6, cabinets on every wall, in every slide, under the stairs, a full basement climate controlled, 3 tvs, couch & 2 recliners, fireplace, coffee bar, walk in pantry, coat closet, a desk hutch with all built in. That was like 400sq ft.? Big Country. It took me 6months and a must have list. I found it. $98K marble, berber, stainless, whirlpool. Icemaker 4dr fridge. Do your homework people!

I have a very small 1 bedroom home, not tiny, but my wall bed was the best investment. I can’t believe it’s not standard in a tiny home.

Some years ago I was very excited about the tiny house trend. Now I see it for what it actually is: just another expression of rich people getting richer and poor people getting poorer. The most expensive thing isn't a roof over your head, it's the land it stands on. And land gets more and more expensive, a luxury retreat for those who can afford it. And the "original" target group of tiny houses has to live in tiny apartments in car-centric concrete wastelands that make you feel isolated and crowded all at the same time. Or worse, they are forced to live in a car despite working one or even two or three jobs. Not even taking into account that land isn't an infinite resource and we as a species are already taking up way too much space. Tiny houses are a good idea. But an idea is only as good as the society which shapes and developes it. I always loved the idea of living somewhere in nature in a simple tiny house, still do. But I don't lie to myself anymore that this is a reasonable option for someone like me (disabled, no rich parents/friends with land etc). It's a luxury goal, like an expensive sports car or a boat or a house in a nice neighbourhood. If we really want to make the lives of the working class better, we have to change the system at its very core. And until then it would be more useful to re-think urban living and make it more human-friendly. Creating more green areas in cities, community gardens, a better real life social network, alternative housing concepts and so on. Tiny houses aren't the future but they could be part of a puzzle of things that aim to make the lives of people actually better, more affordable and liveable.

There is space in the tiny house movement for everyone. It isn't intended for only one type/class of person/family. There are several organizations around the country/world advocating to change the system. Tiny houses are just one part of the solution, for sure. Check out organizations like Quixote Communities & Operation Tiny Home for more information and support!

I really enjoy watching tiny house expeditions, as well as other tiny house channels. This was a great video, from a sweet funny couple, who make this their living, bringing us content they know will be valuable to those interested in this type of living/content. I appreciate Debbie showing her homes, and taking the time to share her wisdom, not to mention renting homes to us. It is disheartening to see comments that viewers leave, who haven’t understood said content. People are so quick to judge and offer negative comments based on wrong understanding. It would be more helpful if perhaps these videos were viewed from a paradigm shift. Look for the good. Look for the positive. Try to glean the nuggets from what the authors and homeowners are trying to convey. All in all, they are extending themselves to us, in an effort to help and make lives easier. Here is a great example of misunderstood content. Honestly, there is enough negativity in our world. Today, I choose joy, peace, patience, and whoa, this is a big one LOVE.. baby LOVE, like Louie sang about! Please try to understand the content before posting comments. 💕

Thank you for sharing! Your work is stunning! The casa home you’re currently living in, is my style. I currently live in a tiny home with two separate bedrooms, small kitchen and a shower. I’m looking at upgrading to a one bedroom, large kitchen (I love to cook as well), and finally.. a bathtub! I’ve lived in large homes. I prefer the tiny house! I do think having an outdoor space is what makes it all work. The colors, items and finishes selected for this casa is stunning! The cozy, clean, open effect is beautiful and welcoming ❤️

I love how happy she seems. She has made casa del sol work for her. I personally don't love the open clothes storage, fridge, and drinking glasses in the bathroom of la casita. I also don't love the idea of moving the rolling island to get into bed every night and moving it back and forth in order to cook.

Your Casa Del Sol is so elegantly designed and decorated. It is absolutely gorgeous. You have done an amazing job at creating a warm, inviting, relaxing innovative living and entertaining space. I absolutely adore, the Murphy bed design, with sliding barn doors throughout the flow of this home. Brilliant idea! This design is by far the best layout, I have seen thus far. It immediately invites you in, and continues to draw you deeper into tranquility, as your vision flows towards the serenity of the bedroom. The additional accents you have added, ie...The doors, floors, fan, color selections, tones and textures, all add exceptional storage options well as esthetically appealing and relaxing. Thank you for sharing your video. You should be very proud of yourself. You, will go very far, no doubt. You are already doing, exceptionally well. A great role model for our future. 👏 👏 Bravo 👏 👏

Don't worry about it, because if more people like this buys up all the tiny houses and take up all the parking, you're just going to be a renter and she's going to be your landlord 😌.. it's turning into a mini version of what's happening to the housing problem now..

I have a little problem with wealthy people buying multiple tiny houses and taking up parking spots.. just for rental purposes.. that's what you're trying to escape from a regular house then people like this brings it to tiny houses.. I don't feel like these are homes, I feel like this is her business 🙄..

I have a 2000 sf home considered the smallest in our neighborhood and I'm trying to get ideas to multipurpose my rooms now that we're empty nesters. Love your design in the larger home, especially how the Murphy bed helped in the bedroom. Those are some of my favorite colors. So glad the depressing gray trend is ending!
