Here I come with a wet blanket…..it’s hard from here to know what the dimensions of your corridors and door ways are but, as an over 80-yr-old who uses a walker, I’m really into being able to negotiate my house on my own. Your young and able bodied now but that life has a way of creeping up on you really fast and that may not always be the case. Love you guys and all your kids….two and four legged. 👍🏻🤗

Your comments about the Merino wool are so true! Merino is a special breed of sheep; my husband goes on a week-long alpine hike every year here in Switzerland, and he'll take 1 Merino day shirt and one for night. If his hiking shirt gets salt-crusted, he rinses it out and it'll be dry by the next morning. He's basically got Merino from feet to neck and nothing else will do for him! And I can attest that it does not stink - even after a week of hiking!

For the pants that you love, contact the company. Many times they have back stock that has been forgotten about. If you let them know how much you love them and are heartbroken that they don’t make them anymore you’d be surprised how cool a company can be. (I used to be one of the people who would check every inch of the warehouses and offices to find something to help out a customer). Give it a shot. If the company cannot find any more can be made. Taylor’s can make a pattern out of a current pair (even if they are not in good shape) fingers crossed that you find more of your favorite pants! I completely understand wanting clothes that work for you! 👍🏼

I can put all my things in them screws, bolts, tools you name it. They rule!!! Also I have a mommy tummy they have some stretch but hold I don’t need a belt to keep my pants up now. I have worked in 115 to 28 deg now and oddly help me maintain and ok temp.

I like the idea of the socks, however I have neuropathy in my feet and socks have kind of fallen by the wayside for me. But I may try one pair at least. I like buying American made! Ashley, I know what you mean about having a certain favorite in clothing that you buy for years and then all the sudden they stop making it and there you are not knowing what to get. I hadn't purchased much in the line of clothing in the last 20 years and just kept mending what I had, with a few pairs of jeans here and there. But I did finally find a new line that fits and is comfy and affordable. Hope you'll find something you really like too. Jonathan, I know everyone pitches in and does some of the tamping down of those bags, but you do most of it. I can only imagine what that does to your shoulders and neck!!!😮 Hope you won't suffer any serious issues down the road. They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and I can attest to that, but it's been a thought I've had several times as I've watched you all build.🙏 Happy first day of your workshop y'all!❤

If you need a good flat bit of wood for levelling the sides of your hyper adobe bags, you should get a cricket bat. It has a flat face and the handle is embedded into the main body so it won't break at the join, plus it's designed for repeated striking. You can different prices and sizes, a cheap child's one might do you, depending on size.

It'd be neat to film a canned intro for any new subs and include your names. That way, it wouldn't feel awkward trying to remember to announce yourselves each time. Great progress. Hi 👋 I have an idea of how to put a handle on the 2x4 for tamping the sides of the bags.😮 Good Will buy a wooden Base Ball Bat (or three) on the table saw flatten one side of the bat (imagine the angle, right in the middle of the fat end, tapering down to where the handle is not weaken) screw thru the board into the bat , the grip will be offset from the board , no more knuckles busted, 😮 Great Build...Great Kids...Great Critters... Go Team Go....

I have a question. Are you going to pour a concrete floor inside your walls, and would it have been better to start with the slab with foot walls under the bags? I worry that your slab will be connected to itself only at the doorways, and land shifts might cause cracking at those narrow joining points. Maybe look into doubling the thickness (dig deeper) through doorways to add strength at those points?
@TinyShinyHome11 күн бұрын
No, we talked extensively with the concrete company and they rightly recommended that laying hundreds of tons of earthbag material on the concrete slab would crack it. So it will be poured into the walls using them as a form. It will likely be poured in several sections with door thresholds being separate as well.

I don't have a watch either. After destroying two expensive watches working at a boat building company, I realized that everywhere I went there were clocks. I don't need a watch. And now a couple of decades later, I have a smart phone. I don't talk on the phone ...
