Good lesson learnt there Robbie, and for those watching, a camera or any other piece of equipmant is not worth putting yourself in danger for. I'm not a good swimmer, I'm aware of my short coming;, but many of us fool ourselves by over inflating our abilities. Imagine what could have happened had that person not been wearing a belt life jacket, and as you say; had it have been winter. Not worth considering. Fortunately you were well prepared, but even by the video, it is evident that it kind of put the wind up you a little.
@robbiefishing9 ай бұрын
Thanks mate. Excellent advice not to inflate your ability and recognise your shortfalls. I am a very strong swimmer thankfully. Good to see you laughing about it Robbie but rolling over a kayak can be a bloody serious thing. A mate of mine rolled his PA12 in Port Phillip Bay last year when I was handing a 6lg Snapper over to him, he lost $3k in rods and reels and cooked his electric motor but managed to get most of his gear back. However if it wasn't for me being able to roll his kayak back over for him and a boat dragging it back in to shore then he would have lost everything and been in a very dangerous situation. Stay safe out there mate 👍

yeah mate i dont live near any bass spots so its pretty special to catch one so you have any lure tips@@AndrewFishman
@AndrewFishman9 ай бұрын
They like an inline spinner or spinner bait type lure, jig spins in gold work well with a small to mid sized paddle or curltail attached. @@nedthefisho16 Chatterbaits also work well. Slow roll with plenty of subtle rod movement. Any of the hardbody minnow type or smaller diving plugs work well in clearer water, or switch out trebles for single inline hooks, as bass love their weed beds and timber and that does not play well with trebles. Topwater lures are where they really get fun. The old Arbogast Jitterbug and Heddon Torpedo were my introductions, now there are many options available. Go for a small to medium body, the Taylor Made basscada is a favourite of mine. For medium cod and redfin and yellowbelly also. Soft frogs, mice, rats and other topwater soft lures, along with unweighted floating prawns and paddle tails are dynamite. There are many options, and many places to explore those options. Make the most of those opportunities and you will open up a whole new hobby within a hobby.

@AndrewFishman9 ай бұрын
Be grateful for small blessings, mate. Around here (The ACT) trout cod are totally protected and endangered. A whole section of the Murrumbidgee south of Canberra is closed entirely to fishing to protect a breeding population. Muzzas on the other hand are in all our local waterways, some really huge fish. One caught out of Lake Burley Griffin a couple of years ago was estimated at 75+ kilos. I catch them regularly. I got a 20 and a 40 cm last week fishing a local lake, under a bridge, in the shadow of Government buildings looking at Maccas, KFC and Hungry Jacks and the local college and library, lol. And a few nice yebblies, a carp and reddies alongside the greenies. Canberra, best Urban Fishing in the world, IMHO. Got a nice 70 cm carp yesterday in LBG :)

I've lost a mobile phone into the depths of the lake hired a professional diver but he couldn't find it. I don't make the same mistake twice. Now when I'm out in the lake i have my mobile tied onto the boat. Maybe tie a bit of fishing gut to your camera and to the kayak or to yourself. A little snap swivel at each end of the gut will do the trick. Mind yourself out there Robbie take care of yourself. Two fellows in a bar one says to the other "Robbie Alexander the KZbin sensation is after dieing mate". Second fella says "what did he did from a snake bite poision from a spider bite"? First fellow says "No mate i believe he seen a small little leach on the end of his big toe and got a heart attack and when they found him it was only a small earthworm he used thousands of jam jack worms in his time and one very small worm i think it was a jam jack worm that done him in mate. 😮

Come on Robbie your not fulling us, it was the Lake Buffalo mermaid, that made you jump out of the kayak.😂 Next time attach a small floating device to your camera.

I new another girl that was scared of leeches 😂😂. But seriously would a piece of gauze like flywire screen over the scupper work.
@robbiefishing9 ай бұрын
Quite possibly Peter. I think this was a one off though, it's never happened before. If it happens again I will be looking for ways to prevent it. Haha

Good to see the sunscreen on your face under your hat Robbie, but I can't work out how that sensitive skin on your feet doesn,t get burnt to blisters!
@robbiefishing9 ай бұрын
Hi Lance, I had a lot of sunscreen on my feet too don't you worry. It was waterproof sunscreen, so I guess it worked. They didn't get burnt.
