These tips are awesome! 🥰 I’m just starting out and I’m still in step 1,2 &3, but I’m very grateful for our all the tips the whole team from Copy That shares with us! I joined the Patreon and I barely had time to watch any exclusive videos yet, because this free content is so good.

Fantastic video as always Sean. Quick question. I know that basically everything is specific to the market, but what are some 'standard' metrics I can use to judge how good my copy is? I've asked for and received statistics about my emails and sales pages, but I don't really know what to think of them.

Are you a patreon supporter on the discord? I have a whole cheat sheet of marketing kpis and how to calculate these figures I can give you. But in lieu of that, the big ones are: Conversion Rate (CR%) which measures the people who undertake your desired action (usually sales); CTR or Click Through Rate, which is the percent of people who click on what you show them; Open rate is the number of people who open your emails; CPA or cost per acquisition is the amount of ad spending it costs to get 1 customer (CPM is similar--it's cost per mille or the price per 1000 impressions/views); EPC is earnings per click, which gives you a quick way to find out which ad is performing better in terms of generating sales; ACV is average cart value, which is everything a person buys based on your ad/campaign; and LTV is the lifetime value of a customer. You can use these to "diagnose" problems in your copy. For example: Good CTR but terrible Open Rate? Your subject line sucks. Good CR% but terrible CTR%? Your traffic driver sucks but the offer/sales copy might be good. High CR% but the ACV is lower than the CPA? Gotta fix that funnel, my dude. And so on.

This is a really great video with practical steps. I don't quite understand the end part of step 4 and step 5. What exactly are we doing once we reverse engineer the swipe files? Do we rewrite them or do we find some products to write copy for according to the template that we've developed from the swipte files?
@CopyThat Жыл бұрын
I would recommend using the outlines as a sort of template or guide for ads that you create--either for products you invent or existing products on the market. But also, I have known many people who do that exercise just to get "a feel" for the flow of copy. Ultimately, do what will allow you to learn the most, based on how you learn.

Could I, after signing up for your Patreon, use what I've learned and create some samples for my portfolio? This is the stage I'm in right now and really feel like I need this bit of extra support?
@CopyThat2 жыл бұрын
Hey, Sean here. As much as I love money, you can get this support without having to pay for the Patreon by joining the Copy Collective discord: discord.gg/copywritingcollective There's an entire channel just for critiques. If you want to go deeper, learn more in-the-weeds stuff, and get feedback from us and other Patrons every now and again? That's when I'd suggest joining the Patreon. But please please please don't think that's a requirement for what you're seeking.
