just want to add that, over the years property changes ownership, things are added on to existing properties at times where the style has evolved, or perhaps the area has gotten richer and can afford to upgrade materials and so they build around the existing structure, apparently it happened quite alot with castles, especialy once they where no longer used tacticaly and basicaly became manors.

Was just about to say this myself. I understand you're going for a short, sweet, to the point video mini-series Madnes64, but some more elaboration, and length, to the videos will be highly beneficial when teaching people your tricks of the trade to building. Maybe, plan to make these video about, 5-10 minutes? Depending on the topic of course. For example, "Decay/Construction" could use points about foliage, overgrowth, rubble --- scaffolding, cranes, etc. Good work, and I look forward to more!

Construction sites, I love to have them in my cities. It does add a sense that the city is being lived in. Also organic flow... too many people will make towns and cities like a grid, all the roads going N/S E/W and it feels fake... build randomly around the city and then add in roads and back streets to connect them. it makes it feel more organic.

Love the concept, hope you keep it going. I would like to hear your thoughts on how to create ambience in builds. Anything from materials to lighting, pathways, statues and landmarks, etc. For example, I have the notion that authoritarian builds tend to be very smooth, with lots of straight lines, but that's about as much as I figured out. Would you consider exploring that side of building? Cheers!

but one tip for you on decay, there is also a thing called woodrot, this you can make easy with using spruce/oak wood as basic (a dark type of wood) and then randomly replacing it with oak/birch wood (lighter wood), so the lighter stuff shows where the decay has set in

If you want to make a realistic medieval road then cover it in the new block podzol. It resembles poo. In medieval times no one had working toilets. If they lived by a river or lake etc they would just but their 'waste' in their but in city or towns when they were far away from any water source they would excrete into a bucket and throw out a window or down a hole in the floor which and sometimes people would just stick their butt out the window and it would all fall onto the roads below. You create this in minecraft by having a room with a flowerpot (kinda looks like a bucket or chamber pot) and the dirt inside also adds to realism or have and add-on to the side of the house that is just a small room with a trap door or a hole in the floor.

Nice note on the stillness. While at times I desire a bit more of your builds these are very good tips based in very reasonable logic. It's pretty reasonable and i can't say anything against it except I would have taken the time to mention how this works when combined with scale and color. Perhaps that's just a step deeper and you don't have to take it.

overall its a great way to sum up the things you are talking about in your how to vids. however instead of takeing 2 topics maybe do one topic and talk a bit more in detail about the stuff for instance the best ways to get the effects done and things like suitable locations and how much is too little/much. thats pretty much what i had to say about it.. any way great vid and keep em comeing Ohh and by the way thanks for taking the time to upload the vids and sharing your knowlegde :)

I think this is important and most certainly a thing missed out in the minecraft community. I build allot and honestly the decay of the world is vital to the server to show it wasn't just a perfect world but had some sentimental value to it. Minecraft isn't just building thing (well actually it is) but what I mran if you want a project to shine it requires even the smallest detail applied to it. Make the tutorial please!
